1 This is a quick reference guide and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all rules and requirements for PLP s. Following this quick reference guide does not guarantee that a specific PLP will be granted. ELIGIBLE VEHICLE TYPES Passenger Motor Vehicle Truck with a declared gross weight of not more than 11,000 pounds Motorcycle (includes Autocycle) Recreational Vehicle (RV) ELIGIBLE LICENSE PLATE TYPES Standard Indiana Passenger: issued for passenger motor vehicles, trucks and RVs Standard Indiana Motorcycle: issued for motorcycles and autocycles In God We Trust Disability Disabled Hoosier Veteran Military (all branches of service) Special Group Recognition (SGR), which includes Organizational (except a Colts PLATE ) and College/University PLP CHARACTER AND SPACING RULES The table below describes the maximum number of characters permitted for each LICENSE PLATE type.
2 Standard Indiana PLP Passenger (issued on passenger, truck, and RV plates) Maximum characters = 8 If all 8 characters are used, at least one of the characters must be a space. Motorcycle Maximum characters = 6 All Other Specialty PLPs Passenger PLATE size Maximum characters = 6 Motorcycle PLATE size Maximum characters = 5 May not contain numbers only Must contain at least two characters May not have 2 or more consecutive spaces May not include punctuation or special characters ( &, #, $, @) May not duplicate the format of any other regularly issued LICENSE PLATE . For example: o Passenger PLATE format is three numbers followed by one to three letters (NNNAAA) o SGR format is two letters followed by one to four numbers (AANNNN) PLP MESSAGE PREFERENCES Use the workspace provided to write PLP message options that you would like to check availability.
