PG-6 SERIES HIGH SOLIDS GLOSS POLYURETHANE TOPCOATS Technical Data April 2016 Hentzen Coatings, Inc. 307 Echelon Road Greenville, SC 29605 Email: P: F: The information contained here is to our knowledge true and accurate but all suggestions are made without guarantee since conditions of use are beyond our control. Nothing contained herein shall be construed as a recommendation to use any product in conflict with existing patents covering any material or use. Product Description This High Solids Polyurethane topcoat SERIES , with low VOC, is designed for use on aircraft and other equipment requiring chemical resistance and color retention.

When fully cured these coatings exhibit skydrol and mar resistance and meet the most demanding aerospace specifications for chemical resistance, hardness, flexibility, color and gloss retention. Material is Qualified to Specifications Bombardier BAMS 565-009 Type II, Class A, Grade B / Embraer MEP 10-069 / Saab 51-33-00 / Northrop Grumman GP110 AEE / Fokker JAA Meets or Exceeds the Performance Requirements of the Following Specifications AMS 3095 / Airbus AIMS 04-04-013 Surface Preparation This topcoat SERIES can be applied over epoxy primer EP-2-Y1, EP-1-Y1 and EP-12-G1(chrome free) without sanding or reactivation if applied at the proper primer cure time.

For application over SP-11, SP-70 and reactivated primer or topcoat the surface must be thoroughly cleaned of sanding residue by blowing, solvent cleaning with SR-51 and lightly wiping with a urethane compatible tack cloth. Surfaces must be free from all possible contaminates such as tape residue, moisture, oil, overspray and dust. Mixing: Ratio 2:1:1 Shake base component for 15 minutes. Be certain there is no material remaining on the bottom of the original container. Slowly add one part of PH-19 to two parts of PG-base while stirring to insure complete mixing. Follow by adding one part of SC-component while stirring to complete the mix.

The coating should be stirred during a 15 minute (minimum) induction period. The mixing order and induction time must be followed to obtain the best results. Use the DRY SCHEDULE Table I below to select the best SC- component for your application. Table I: SC-Component Time Between Coats Dry To Tape @77 F & 50% RH Pot Life SC-2 10-20 min 2 hour 1 hour SC-5 20-30 min 4-5 hour 1 hour SC-6 30-45 min 6-8 hour 1 hour SC-10 45-75 min 10-12 hour 2 hour PG-6 SERIES HIGH SOLIDS GLOSS POLYURETHANE TOPCOATS Technical Data April 2016 Hentzen Coatings, Inc.

Mixing: Ratio 1:1 Shake base component for 15 minutes. There should be no material remaining on the bottom of the original container. Slowly add one part of PH-34 to one part of PG-6-base while stirring. The mixed coating should be agitated during the 15 minute (minimum) induction period. The mixing order and induction time must be followed to obtain the best results. The Dry to Tape time of the applied coating can be shortened with the addition of AX-17.

See DRY SCHEDULE Table #2 below for suggested AX-17 additions. Note: adding AX-17 will reduce wet edge or open time of the topcoat and shorten the usable pot life. Table II: AX-17 Recommended Additions Per 2 gallon kit Time between Coats Dry to Tape @77 F & 50% RH Pot Life 3 oz. (90cc/ ml) 15-30 min 2-3 Hours 1 hour .5 oz. (15cc/ ml) 20-35 min 3-4 Hours 1 hours .3 oz. (10cc/ ml) 30-45 min 5-7 Hours 1 hours Not accelerated 45-75 min 10-12 Hours 2 hours Application Continuous agitation or stirring is recommended during application. Spray apply 2 or 3 uniform coats to achieve a DFT of 2-3 mils using siphon, pressure pot, electrostatic, or HVLP spray equipment.

Airless spray is not recommended. Do not let the applied topcoat dry to touch between coats. The coating should be wet enough to transfer when the next coat is applied. Mixing fresh material for each coat will reduce orange peel and result in a smoother finish. Never use material that has exceeded the mixed pot life. Mixed material may be reduced 6-12% with SR-12 (fast dry), SR-55 (medium dry) or SR-420 (exempt solvent /reducer) to improve flow and reduce orange peel. * Refer to the Process Standard for more application instructions.
