4 EXTERNAL PROFILE DETAILS POLYSTOPECJ- External Construction Joints external construction joint waterstop is used atjoints of slab on grade or walls that gets backfilledon vertical walls. the profile of this waterstop is flatwith multiple ribs and fins along its flanges forbetter mechanical bond or interlock in External Expansion Joints external expansion joint waterstop is used inconcrete expansion or isolation joints. these aredesigned with centre bulb with a tear web. thesetype of waterstop is used where large movementsin expected. tear web keeps concrete out of thebulb during concrete placement. upon jointmovement, the thin tear web ruptures allowingsubstantial mechanical deformation of center bulbwithout stressing the INSTRUCTIONS fixing internally:internal and centrally placedwaterstops are positioned within the concretewhere the centerline of the waterstop is alignedwith the centre of the joint.

8 Surface of the waterstop shall be cleaned of alldirt and cement laitance which can affect thewater tight seal with the the clearance between the waterstop and thereinforcement should be at least twice that ofthe maximum size of the aggregate. this willprevent the formation of voids and honeycombaround the waterstop. 4. the waterstop should not be punctured toallow a reinforcement to pass through thewaterstop. 5. installed waterstops should be protected fromuV. prolonged exposure will make the pVcwaterstop the material in a cool and shaded from uV and high temperatures. prolongedexposure to sunlight and harsh environment willresult in deterioration of the product. keep awayfrom sharp edges to prevent damage.
