2 Firstmark Controls Position Transducers consist of astainless steel displacement cable wound on a threaded drum that is directly coupled toa precision, long-life sensor. Operationally, the Position transducer is mounted in a fixedposition and the ex tension cable is at tached to a moving object. The a xes of movementfor the ex tension cable and moving object are aligned with each other. As movementoccurs, the displacement cable ex tracts and retracts. An internal, engineered springmaintains tension on the displacement threaded drum rotates a precision,long-life sensor that produces an elec-trical output propor tional to thedisplacement cable travel. Theoutput is measured toreflect the Position ,direction, or rateof motion of themoving FlexibilityThese all-environment miniature displacement Transducers are also referred to as drawwire Transducers , string pots, string encoders, cable ex tension Transducers , and yo yopots. Firstmark Controls Position Transducers are noted for their small size, rugged per formance, accuracy, flexible mounting, and easy installation.

8 Today Firstmark Controls ' continues aproud tradition in the development and production ofinnovative, small-size Position the 1970's vir tually all , Canadian, andEuropean aerospace companies use our Position trans-ducers in their research, development, and test ten these products are designed and manufactured tocustom specifications. In the late 1980's an auto racingteam began using our Position Transducers to monitorthrot tle movement and suspension travel. This useresulted in the adoption of the products in a broad rangeof vehicle test and measurement projects includinganthropomorphic dummy instrumentation, impact test-ing, and control Controls ' products benefit customers in over20 industries and in over 40 countries, including thelargest auto manufacturing companies and the largestaerospace companies. Our products are used ondiverse applications such as of f-road heav y equipment, manned space vehicles, and Formula 1/Indy/NASCAR race cars.
