The PTS- 3500b is the latest generation of automated return-to-service testing for current models of the Rockwell Collins digital Weather radar Systems. This new generation PTS- 3500b is a result of continuous improvements made by Ideal Aerosmith since acquiring this test System as part of the PENTAR test equipment business acquisition. The purpose of the latest B update was to address obsolescence issues which were significantly impacting the test System cost. 2 ABOUT Ideal Aerosmith Ideal Aerosmith is an experienced supplier of test services and state-of-the-art motion simulation systems.

3 Ideal has an excellent reputation for designing and supplying superior products and systems as well as supporting them to the highest expectations of its customers. The company has been in business continuously since it s founding in 1938 by a group of airline mechanics that saw a need for precision equipment to test aircraft instruments. Ideal employs over 120 people in four locations; its East Grand Forks, MN headquarters, and facilities in Phoenix, AZ, Pittsburgh, PA and Menlo Park, CA. Ideal Aerosmith maintains ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturing facilities at its headquarters in East Grand Forks, MN and in Phoenix, AZ. All manufacturing assembly personnel in both facilities are J-STD-001C trained and certified. 5 The PTS- 3500b replaces the previous generation of manual test equipment (consisting of obsolete equipment: IFR STD-7000, IFR DF-7708, JcAir BITE-7000 & JcAir WS-7000) and provides the benefits of automated operation, while adding capability to support the Forward Looking Windshear (FLW) WRT-701X R/T (622-5132-6XX) and the Multi-scan WRT-2100 (822-1710-001/201). The System also provides all test resources required to perform semi-automated test on ancillary Rockwell Collins radar indicators, control panels, and antenna pedestals per the procedures in the Rockwell Collins CMMs. PTS- 3500b WXR Test System Technical Summary Rev A - 3 - PTS- 3500b WXR Test System Overview The Ideal Aerosmith PTS- 3500b WXR Test System is a rack-mounted, PC-based test System . It is automated to the fullest extent possible. Operator intervention will be required to connect the LRU to the test System and to select the proper test to be performed.

6 Also, certain steps of the test procedure require manual intervention to attach test probes to specific test points on the UUT and enter the measured data. The following equipment is installed: 1. Pentium-class PC (PTS-3000) in an industrial package; includes GPIB controller and ADATE software (ADATE software is provided to Ideal by Rockwell Collins) 2.

Ideal Aerosmith PTS-3100B radar Resource Panel, which contains ARINC 429, ARINC 453, discrete I/O, synchro/resolver, and power control resources 6. Agilent 6812C AC Power Supply 7. Agilent 66000 series DC Power Supply 8. Master AC Power Control panel Additional accessories that are supplied with the PTS-3500 WXR Test System include: 1. PC Printer 2. 8 Cooling The PTS- 3500b is designed to be operated in normal avionics shop (non-condensing) environment, and does not require any specialized environmental considerations. Software The PTS- 3500b WXR Test System is delivered t with the Windows operating System and test software pre-installed on the PTS-3000 PC controller. There are three levels of software installed in the PTS-3000 PC Controller that is delivered with the PTS- 3500b test System : 1. Microsoft Windows 95TM Operating System 2. Ideal Aerosmith PTS-3000 Operating Software this is the primary user interface to the System . It allows the operator to select the UUT part number to be tested, controls the manual mode testing of various UUTs, and invokes the ADATE automatic test software 3. Rockwell Collins ADATE automatic test program software (for 622-5132-XXX and 822-1710-XXX LRUs ) this consists of the ADATE test executive and Turbo-ATLAS application test programs Note, the PTS- 3500b WXR Test System uses ADATE test application software that is owned, controlled, and updated by Rockwell Collins.

9 Rockwell Collins uses this test System and software in their factory and service centers for weather radar component testing. Ideal Aerosmith installs the latest version of the Collins ADATE software on the PTS- 3500b before it is delivered an Airline. Future software releases and revisions shall then come directly from Rockwell Collins. Please contact Rockwell Collins for information on their software update service. This software suite is what is used in Rockwell Collins factory and at their Service Centers. PTS- 3500b WXR Test System Technical Summary Rev A - 5 - Documentation Complete documentation of the PTS- 3500b radar Test System is provided by Ideal Aerosmith . Manuals containing schematics, parts list, test procedures, and calibration procedures for all Ideal Aerosmith -manufactured products are supplied. Documentation for all commercially purchased equipment shall be that supplied by the original manufacturer of the equipment.

10 AC Power Requirement The PTS- 3500b can be powered from 220 Vac/50 Hz (10 Amp circuit) or from 115 Vac/60 Hz (20 Amp circuit) AC mains power. The power requirements need to be specified at the time of the order. 5 RECOMMENDED SPARES Ideal Aerosmith recommends the PTS-3100B spares kit, which contains each of the major circuit card assemblies in the PTS-3100B radar resource panel: 1 ea. ARINC 429 I/O card 1 ea. ARINC 453 I/O card 1 ea. Discrete I/O card 1 ea. IP Discrete I/O card 1 ea. IP Synchro/Resource card 1 ea. IP Carrier card 1 ea. Single Board Computer 6 OPTIONAL CONFIGURATIONS The PTS- 3500b is available in a configuration that allows the user to supply the Aeroflex RDX-7708R Weather radar Tester for use in the System . If the user selects this option the RDX-7708R is required to have the following: GPIB (IEEE-488) Interface Internal Fan Installed (Service Bulletin #6) Recent Factory Calibration The RDX-7708R will be required 5 weeks prior to shipment or on-site acceptance at Ideal Aerosmith .
