Be lt length can be calcul at ed by using the following formul 7 x (Motor Pulley Diameter + Pump Pulley Diameter) + ( 2 x Shaft Spacing) - 3 = Belt LengthAB CEXAMPLE:You have an application usin g a TS1021 pump (see spec sheet) to pump 4 GPM at 1500 PSI.

3 You need to know whatbelts and pulleys to use and how m uch more horsepower i t wi ll the pump spec sheet application graph, locate GPM on the horizontal scale and 1500 PSI on thevertical scale. As you can see, the lines cross in the 5 HP area for electric motors (double for gas engine).Follow the vert ica l GPM line down to the diagonal line in the lower chart, then left to 1036 RPM forthe required pump w t hat you know the pump must be driven at 1036 RPM with a 5 H P motor, go to the Moto r Pulley Guide . Th ere are four Pulley columns to the right of 5 HP. You can use any of the four (for this example,we will use a do uble-groove 3- 1/2 with A section belt Pulley ) . w g o t o the Pul ley Spee d Guidefor 1725 HP motors.

4 In the col umn marked motor pull ey outsidediameter, locate 3-1/2 , and read dow n until you need a 5-3/4 pump Pulley for your applicati on. Pleasenote th e motor Pulley sizes ar e the mini mum; lar ger ones may be used in order to obtain the correct order to determine belt length, find the center distance between shafts (assume in this case it is 8 ) andapply the f ormula shown in step Lengt h = 1. 57 ( + 9) + (2 x 18) - 3 Therefore, you would use a double-groove 4-1/2 ODBelt Lengt h = 2. 12 + 36 - 3motor Pulley and double-groove 9 OD pump Pulley withBelt Lengt h = 54 .2tw o 54 inch A section you do not have a 1725 RPM m otor, you can use the following formula to determine the pump Pulley diameteronce you have found the proper motor Pulley diameter in Step 2:Motor Pulley Diameter x Motor R PM = Pump Pulley Diameter x Pump RPME xample:If yo u know from Step 2 above that you need a minimum m oto r pull ey diameter of and thatthe pump RPM must be 1036 and your motor is 1200 RPM , you can use the follow ing formula to determinethe pump p ulle y di ameter:Motor RPM x Motor Pulley Diameter = Pump RPM x Pump Pulley Diameter12 00 x 1036 x Pump Pulley Diam eter42 00= 1036 x Pump Pulley Diam eter42 00 / 1036= 4 Pump Pulley Di ameter
