The Boilermakers make their second trip to West Virginia, but the first to Huntington. PURDUE won at No. 23 West Virginia 26-24 to open the 1995 season. He signed a six- year contract with the Boilermakers. Hazell is in his third year at PURDUE , after spending two seasons as the head coach at Kent State. Hazell (HAY-zull) was named the 2012 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year after leading Kent State to arguably its most sucessful season ever, with an 11-3 record and MAC East Division cham-pionship. The 11 wins set a school record. Prior to his time at Kent State, Hazell spent seven seasons at Ohio State, where he served as an assistant head coach and wide receivers coach under Jim Tressel. Hazell has spent 28 years in the college coaching ranks, and has previous stints as Rutgers (2001-03), West Virginia (1999-2000), the Military Academy (1997-98), Western Michigan (1995-96), Pennsylvania (1992-94), Eastern Illinois (1988) and Oberlin (1986-87, 1989-91).

The group allowed 14 fewer sacks in 2014 than the offensive line did in 2013. The group paved the way for 11 more rushing touchdowns in 2014 than in 2013 - nearly triple the total number. PURDUE is one of nine schools in the country that returns five starters on the offensive line (also Ball State, Boise State, Bowling Green, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Texas, Washington State). Thirty-four other schools return four offensive line starters, includ-ing PURDUE opponents Indiana and Michigan AND THAT PURDUE was 0-2 in 2014 in games de-cided by one possession or less. Both games were on the road (Minnesota and Indiana), while both come to Ross-Ade Stadium this season.
