DG Len Cutuli On the Web at 1st VDG Billy Carroll 2nd VDG Phillip Smith I once asked a Past District Governor, "How do you grade your year as Governor?" He said, "Is your District in better shape than when you started?" Let's look at our past year. We planted the seeds of Lion-ism in Soperton, although we could not get the two groups together to form a club this year. Time will tell. Our membership goal was to increase District member-ship by 5 members. We lost two clubs this year, Wadley (6 members) and Brunswick (25 members). We have one year to re-establish a new club in Brunswick.

book page. What about Twitter or Insta-Gram?Does your club reach all age groups? Does your club communicate to its member-ship all club activities, meetings, etc. ?

As of today our dis-trict is down 70 members. We are hoping for a great push in June. The activation fee has been waived from June 7-30, so this is an excellent time for new members to join! Preliminary planning has begun in Savannah and States-boro for campus clubs. Also, we are considering restarting the Folkston club. Your Governors worked really well together as a team this year. Each of the VDGs took leadership roles in a num-ber of situations. We had several new young Zone Chairs who are showing great leadership potential in our District .

We have also put together a new Global Action Team team for next year. Our goal was to screen 25,000 children and we achieved 20,000. The good news is more clubs are buying vision screeners and the future looks encouraging. 18N held its convention in Pooler in February and we had a great time. We will always remember Miss 18N! Our state convention was held in Helen, GA in May. It was a long drive for our members, but over 50 District N Li-ons made the trip. 3rd International Vice President Haynes Townsend was the keynote speaker and gave a heartfelt message.

At the casino night a lucky Garden City Lion won big time!. We have a strong PDG group that is looking to help our District to continue to move forward. This has been one of the most special years of my life. Rosemary and I have been welcomed by clubs all across our District and we thank them for showing us some wonderful southern hospitality. I would encourage anyone to take this Good Afternoon, I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone from the Milledgeville Lion's Club for the phe-nomenal things you do for our community. The Lion's Club tested my daughter, Brooklyn, at her school several weeks back.

She was the only one that day that was referred to see a doctor. Her pediatrician is in Macon so to save a drive, I called numerous pediatricians in Milledgeville to try to get her in closer to home. No one had the machine to test eyes here in Milledgeville. We also called a few eye doctors and were told that they do not see patients under the age of 6 years old. We ended up seeing Dr. McQuaig at Family Eye Care. He did a great job giving her a very thorough exam and confirmed that Brooklyn (Continued on page 2) journey. Next year I have been asked to serve as Global Service Team Leader.

I am honored to work with DGE Billy Carroll and his team. I will also be our District rep at the Lighthouse. These are my passions. I can't wait to share with clubs THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF SERVICE! Thanks to the help of dedicated District 18N Lions I be-lieve our District is now poised on the brink of greatness. has an astigmatism. He suggested to get her glasses within the next year. We decided to go ahead and get those for her so we can start correcting this issue. She has had a cute little pair of pink glasses for about a week now. She has done great wearing them too!

Over the last few weeks, we have learned so much about eye care, eye safety and overall eye health. I am frustrated that more doctors do not have machines to test children's eyes and that more eye doctors in our area don't see children at this very important time in their lives. Because of this, I have been encouraging and educating everyone I know to get their child's eyes tested. Eye problems do not have to run in the family for children to have issues. We do not have eye issues in our family so we never thought to get her eyes examined. I am very thankful that you came to the school to test the children.

Because of this, Brooklyn will have perfect vision with glasses in her teenage/adult years. If this wasn't caught, her vision would have been poor during those years and wouldn't have been able to be corrected. Again, thank you for testing my daughter's eyes and thank you for everything you do for our community. Thank You, Jessica Mitchell (Continued from page 1) I woke this morning and suddenly realized that today in June 1. Why is this important? It is important as we Lions now have only 1 month to transition to the new Lions year. Transition is very important.

At midnight June 30, our existing officers and Board of Directors cease to exist even if a Lion is continuing in the same office. It is like Cinderella suddenly hearing the clock strike midnight. There is no need to panic if you forgot. There is still time to put the secretary s files together to pass on to next year s secretary. Be sure that you have a correct list of each member. Also be sure that the information on the LCI site is correct. There are still many clubs that entered that information when the person become a Lion and have never updated it.

Every Lion needs to have contact information phone number, correct mailing address, email address. There is still time to make sure that all reports have been filed with LCI through the MyLCI site. Oh, for those nine clubs that have not filed their 2018-2019 Officers Report on MyLCI, there is still time. One item to make sure happens see that your club has an Installation of Officers at the last meeting in June. This formally transfers leadership to the incoming officers so that they start their year knowing their responsibilities. Each in-coming officer should have the LCI e-book for their position President and 1st Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Mem-bership Chair, and Service Chair.
