1 Document No: 10289830 Version: 00. Description: OIT Tech News A/C Type / Type All airbus Chapter:00. For Information Only Recommendations concerning use of tools fitted on magnetic supports This Technical News Bulletin has been published to make engineering aware of airbus OIT-999-0034-21-00. which highlights a potential safety issue. Occurrences of unexpected movement of flight control surfaces have been reported to airbus whilst maintenance actions were being performed on these surfaces. The maintenance actions required having the related actuator in active mode for their accomplishment electrically supplied and hydraulically powered. Investigations performed at the operator indicated that a light fitted on a magnetic support was installed in very close proximity of the actuator during maintenance .

2 Investigations performed at airbus confirmed that uncommanded movement of the actuator rod could occur when the magnetic support of the light is fitted very close or on the actuator servo valve itself. As indicated in the AMM/MP introduction chapters for all airbus programmes, airbus recommends not to use magnetic tools during accomplishment of maintenance as the potential effect of these different features on A/C equipment cannot be assessed thoroughly. 1.
