Use multiple sites of action in EVERY application: Did you know that if you use two sites of action in an application you are 83% less likely to develop glyphosate resistance?2. Start clean with a burndown or tillage: The best way to control weeds is to not let them Use overlapping residuals: Don t make the post-emergence application do the heavy lifting, use it to clean up escapes. Often, post-emergence applications are made when weeds are above labeled height for Control escapes: Do not let escapes produce viable seed, especially if you suspect Apply herbicides correctly, the details matter: Coverage, time of day, weed height, time of the year, nozzles, adjuvants, rate, water quality, and other considerations are key components of proper weed Understand weed biology: If a particular weed germinates through late July, early pre-emerge followed by June post-emergence applications will not provide adequate control.

3 Know when weeds SPECIES WITH RESISTANCE TO MORE THAN ONE SITE OF ACTIONRESISTANCE MANAGEMENT IS GETTING chart below is a clear indication of an issue that is important for every farmer: weed resistance management. For various reasons, HERBICIDE resistance is increasing and requires a proactive management approach. Waiting until resistance develops is a costly strategy. According to , there are currently more than 100 species of weeds with resistance to two sites of action (SOA) worldwide, over 50 species resistant to three SOAs, and almost 20 species of weeds resistant to five SOAs. In fact, there is even a documented case of six-way resistance!Source: Dr. Ian Heap, , 20194 | BECK SIndividual results may vary. Always read and follow label HERBICIDE STUDY: TRAIT PLATFORMS AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURE, THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED: Liberty killed the Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans, but did not harm the Enlist E3 or LibertyLink GT27 soybeans.

4 Enlist One killed the Roundup Ready 2 Xtend and LibertyLink GT27 soybeans, but did not harm the Enlist E3 soybeans. XtendiMax with VaporGrip Technology killed the Enlist E3 and LibertyLink GT27 soybeans, but did not harm the Roundup Ready 2 Xtend are important differences to keep in mind as you plan and execute your weed control strategy and subsequent HERBICIDE s important to have a clear understanding of which herbicides can be used on the different trait platforms. While each of the three major trait platforms can help farmers achieve good weed control, the products that can be applied to each are indeed different. In the picture below, we ran this demonstration to help illustrate some of the differences. In this demonstration, we planted the three different traits in this order, left to right: LibertyLink GT27 , Enlist E3 , and Roundup Ready 2 Xtend.

5 We then sprayed the following chemistries across the plot, in order top to bottom: Liberty , Enlist One , and XtendiMax with VaporGrip | FARMERS AT HEART Individual results may vary. Always read and follow label , XtendiMax , and FeXapan are very effective on glyphosate-resistant (GR) waterhemp and other broadleaf weeds. See Figure 1. and 2. For waterhemp smaller than 4 in., Engenia plus Roundup PowerMAX resulted in 94% control. Systemic products do not require as thorough coverage as Liberty applications. Nozzle selection is one key for this system. TeeJet TTI nozzles or similar, approved nozzles, are required to achieve larger spray droplets. Target waterhemp at less than 4 in. height. See Figures 3. and 1. Untreated (35 Days after treatment or DAT)Figure 2.

Always read and follow label made in the heat of the day resulted in the best control for Liberty and glyphosate tank mixtures. We saw little crop response or antagonism with the combination and the weed control was excellent. Benefits were observed with Liberty/glyphosate tank mixes, especially in the morning and evening applications. Liberty/glyphosate tank mixes increased waterhemp and fall panicum control in morning, afternoon, and evening applications. Figure 1. Untreated (28 DAT)Figure 2. Always read and follow label HERBICIDE studies conducted through Beck s Practical Farm Research (PFR) , we compared different post-emergence combinations with 32 oz. of Enlist One . The picture on the left is the control (heavy waterhemp). On the right is 32 oz. of Enlist One (ignore the panicum). Utilizing a 1:1 ratio of 32 oz. of Liberty mixed with 32 oz. of Enlist One resulted in greater than 95% waterhemp control. Use Liberty in the Enlist system to help control waterhemp and other tough-to-control broadleaf 1. Untreated (35 DAT)Figure 2. 32 oz. Enlist One (35 DAT)Figure 3.

Always read and follow label READY 2 XTEND XtendiMax , Engenia , or FeXapan have shown excellent post-emergence activity on tough-to-control, glyphosate-resistant (GR) weeds such as waterhemp, marestail, and giant ragweed. The addition of Roundup PowerMAX in the tank broadens the weed spectrum, resulting in activity on grasses as well as boosting activity on glyphosate-susceptible (GS) broadleaf weeds such as morningglory, velvetleaf, and cocklebur. Dicamba products, like XtendiMax, have been documented to provide up to 14 days of soil activity, giving them an advantage over other post-emergence herbicides . When it comes to tough-to-control weeds such as GR marestail, dicamba activity is greater than other growth regulators in heavy weed pressure TO SUCCESS Just like any platform, an effective pre-emergence application is the foundation of successful weed control XtendiMax , Engenia , and FeXapan can be sprayed pre-emergence with no plant back restriction when planting Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans.

9 This is an effective burndown option for winter annuals such as marestail and early emerging summer annuals such as giant ragweed herbicides such as Roundup PowerMAX or clethodim are required for grass control Roundup PowerMAX boosts broadleaf activity on GS weeds For post-emergence applications, spray early in the growing season before the field has a carpet of weeds Spray when weeds are less than 4 in. tall to maximize effectiveness Most pre-emerge herbicides begin to break roughly 4 weeks after application. Therefore, early in-season applications should be targeted to ensure weeds are small Pair with an approved group 15 HERBICIDE such as Warrant to provide an in-season residual barrier. This is especially important when applying early in-season, post-emergence applications9 | FARMERS AT HEART Individual results may vary.

10 Always read and follow label XLT + Mauler $ $ Ultra$ PowerMAX $ *$ SPRAY EARLY WITH CONFIDENCE PROGRAMThis is a weed control guarantee on both broadleaf and grass weeds and can be used in conjunction with the Bayer Plus Rewards program. Participants are required to:1. Start clean with tillage or a burndown HERBICIDE at labeled Apply a pre-emergence application using a qualified residual product ( group 3, 14, or 15). 3. Apply a post-emergence application when weeds are less than 4 in. tall and within a RECOMMENDED post-planting window, depending on the program. See program details for specific herbicides . BAYER PLUS REWARDSC hoose from a portfolio of Bayer products and receive increasing incentives based on the number of products used. You can earn up to $15/A.
