1 ROLE ADVERT ROLE TITLE: Team Manager - Long Term Support Team children s services POST ID: SCS070 GRADE: BAND K SCP 45 40,057 SCP 49 43,821 HOURS: 37 LOCATION: Usk and across the Monmouthshire locality. PURPOSE OF POST: This is a crucial role in leading the team in first class service delivery within The Long Term Support Team securing consistently positive outcomes for Looked After children , Young People and Care Leavers within Monmouthshire. As our lead for Looked After children and Care Leavers you will champion innovative and creative methods of working. Together with key partners you will play a crucial role in the service improvement agenda that is underway in Monmouthshire.
2 You will take a lead role in driving up practice standards particularly in how we engage with children and young people, carry out assessments, plan and provide interventions to promote positive outcomes and understand and manage risk. You will promote positive multi-agency interventions which deliver effective support to children , young people, their families and carers. The emphasis for you and your team will be on working collaboratively with multi-agency partners, carers, communities and families to find sustainable, strength-based, preventative solutions to reducing risk and need for some of our most vulnerable children and young people.
3 Central to this will be working to ensure that our Looked After children and Care Leavers are enabled to live confident and fulfilling adult lives. As team Manager you will help equip those around you with the skills and confidence they need to practice excellence whilst at the same time listening, understanding and learning from them. You will not only develop your own professional skill set but you will also be passionate about developing those around you. 5 Providing robust, experienced social work leadership of the highest quality to ensure your team is highly skilled and motivated in order to achieve best outcomes for the children and Young People of Monmouthshire. Your responsibilities are to:- Leadership Lead on practice and the day to day operational management of the team, balancing the needs of the children and their families / carers with available resources. This will be achieved by providing day to day advice, management, support, decision-making and guidance to your team, ensuring effective service delivery for children and their families and that children are protected from harm and abuse.
6 Provide leadership, support and supervision to your team members to ensure they are provided with appropriate direction, support and guidance in order to provide an effective service. Induct and train all new team members on the daily and operational responsibilities for the post ensuring all identified skill gaps are addressed through planned interventions. Undertake supervision of Senior Practitioners, Social Workers and other staff providing opportunities for reflection and challenge in line with policy. Provide advice and mentoring across all teams to ensure Social Work practice particularly for Looked After children and Care Leavers is regarded as meeting, or exceeding, practice standards.
7 Work alongside colleagues to continue to develop new ways of working that directly impact practice. This will result in rising standards in working practice, with improved quality of service provision to children , young people and families. Deputise for the Service Manager as required and to a high standard of performance. Develop, encourage and maintain high professional standards with the team and department. These will be evident across your service. Performance Ensure that agreed performance targets are consistently delivered, monitored and reviewed as well as sustain optimal team performance.
8 Lead in the development of robust record keeping systems and ensure the dissemination of key information within the team. Ensure systems are effective and records are up to date. ensuring all looked after children information and statistical data is accurate and up to date. Ensure your Service Improvement Plan is in line with the overarching children s Service Strategy. Lead, develop, co-ordinate and support your Service Improvement Plan. Regularly review and analyse information including performance and statistical data, practice procedures and evaluate practice across your whole team.
9 Take a lead role in the development of management information systems including PLANT recording, retrieval and analysis within your team. Ensuring information for your areas is accurate, up to date and robust, and the appropriate use of information is observed across your service area. Operational Manage applications to court where this is required to keep children safe Work with provider agencies to ensure that children s needs are met and outcomes are achieved. Ensure that the team operates in accordance with all relevant legislation and guidance. Ensure your team is fully compliant with the Social services Well Being Act and implications for your Service.
10 Keep you and your whole team are kept informed of developments in legislation, practice, policies and procedures that have implications for social work practice and other colleagues. Ensuring you and your team are working within the all wales child protection procedures . Ensure timely information sharing with other agencies in line with the requirement of your service. In relation to your responsibilities for supporting all looked after children within Monmouthshire. You will be accountable for working with colleagues in relation to contracting, commissioning and reviewing all placements for looked after children .
