2 A parent Information evening will be held in February of 2019, following the completion of the building project. This will provide families the opportunity to meet the Leadership Team, their child's Homeroom Teacher, House Leader and explore the new Champagnat Campus facilities. Our Student Transition Program continues to prepare our girls and boys for a co-educational learning environment at Champagnat Campus . Term 4 sessions will be held at the Middle School in order to assist learners in becoming familiar with the Champagnat site. Parents are invited to attend an informal coffee and chat following drop off on the morning of their child's transition. Our preparations for Champagnat Campus will continue and we look forward to sharing another Update with families in Term 4. At Champagnat Campus , classes will be co-educational, with the following exceptions: The Year 9 Rite Journey Program, including the camp will be delivered in gender based classes. There may also be times during our Pastoral Care Program where students will separate by gender for key presentations. W HAT WIL L T H E S CH O OL C A MP P ROGRA M LOOK L IKE ? The newly devised camp program is outlined below. Year 7 - Orientation focus. All Year 7s will venture to Victor Harbor or Wallaroo for a 3-day camp experience. The camp will be co-ed and House based. It will take place in Week 2 of Term 1. Year 8 - Aquatics focus. All Year 8s will venture to Hindmarsh Island for a 3-day camp experience.

4 The camp will be co-ed and House based. It will take place in Week 4 of Term 1. Year 9 - Rite Journey Camp, outdoor challenge focus. All Year 9s will venture to the Fleurieu Peninsula for a 3-day outdoor camp experience. The camp will be gender based and students will journey to the Heysen Trail in their Rite Journey groups. Learners will sleep in tents, cook using a trangia and participate in a Solo overnight experience. It will take place in Week 1 of Term 4. All camp experiences are included in the COLLEGE fees. Please note that an external provider will provide the necessary expertise for our aquatic and outdoor activities. W I LL T HE CANB ER R A CA MP RUN IN 2 0 1 9 A ND INTO THE F UTURE ? In 2019, the COLLEGE will facilitate an optional Canberra experience for Year 7 learners. Whilst the COLLEGE will staff and facilitate the experience, the cost of the camp (flights, accommodation, food and entry fees) will reside with families. Based on our 2018 experience, this is likely to be around $1,200.

5 Expressions of Interest and participation has now closed. The COLLEGE will not offer a Canberra Camp beyond 2019. W HAT WIL L T H E PAS TORA L STRUC TURE LOOK LIKE ? Our Pastoral structure will align with the Senior Campus as we adopt a vertical structure at Champagnat Campus . The vertical homerooms will include Year 7, 8 & 9 learners and will be House based. Learners will maintain the same Homeroom Teacher for the duration of their middle years. The Homeroom Teacher will be the first point of contact regarding Pastoral Care matters. Homeroom Teachers will also be supported by a Head of House, which will provide another layer of pastoral support for your child. The Head of House will also plan and facilitate, alongside the Homeroom Teacher the Pastoral Care Program which will take place weekly, during extended Homeroom. In addition to the Heads of House, the Champagnat Leadership Team will also include a Director of Students who will support the Heads of House in Student Management and lead Pastoral Care and Wellbeing initiatives.

6 The COLLEGE will have both male and female counsellors available to support our learners. The COLLEGE has appointed a Learning Enrichment and Transition Coordinator for Champagnat Campus who will support learners who may require Individual Education Plans, adjustments to curriculum and extension. Furthermore, they will support learners in their transition into and out of Champagnat Campus , liaise with Parish Schools and the Senior Campus to ensure all learners are well supported in this time of transition. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS SACRED HEART . W I LL T HER E B E A S CH OOL BUS IN 2 0 1 9 ? The COLLEGE will provide a bus that will run between the two campuses in both the morning and afternoon. It will have scheduled stops between the Senior School and Champagnat Campus . To assist in planning for this service, a parent survey will be distributed to families in the coming weeks.

7 Details regarding the process for accessing this service, costing and departure times will be communicated with families following the survey. W HAT WIL L T H E S CH O OL STA RT A ND FINISH TIM ES L OOK L IKE ? W I LL T HE CO LLEG E O F FER A FTER HOURS' SC HOOL CARE ? The COLLEGE does not offer an after school care program. Extended Library hours will be offered to learners before and after school for supervised study purposes. Extended hours for 2019 will be as follows: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:00pm The COLLEGE will also offer a Homework Club, on Monday afternoons from 2:30-4:00pm in the Library.]

8 Learners attending the Homework Club are expected to spend this time completing homework. W HAT WIL L T H E S PO RT P ROGRA M LOOK LIKE IN 2019? SACRED HEART COLLEGE has a wide variety of sport and other curriculum extension activities available to all learners. Learners will have the option to sign up for sports they are interested in. Opportunities will be communicated at the beginning of 2019. The SACRED HEART COLLEGE Sport Policy states that if a child is proficient in a sport they are required to play this for the COLLEGE . When representing the COLLEGE , SACRED HEART uniforms are to be worn. Uniforms are purchased at the expense of families and available from the COLLEGE Uniform Shop on Oaklands Road. Families are reminded that pre-loved uniforms can be re-sold by contacting the COLLEGE Uniform Shop. 9 W HAT WIL L ICT & CO MMUNIC ATION LOOK LIKE AT Champagnat ? At Champagnat Campus learners will continue to use Chromebooks as the COLLEGE device. Parents are asked to purchase these prior to the school year. Chromebooks can be purchased at any retail store or via the portal on the COLLEGE website. Learners utilise the Google Platform for Learning. This will be explicitly taught by their Homeroom Teachers. COLLEGE Newsletters will continue fortnightly, with a Sport Newsletter twice per term. These are distributed to families via email. Teachers and Senior leaders will communicate with families via email and on occasions via SMS. The COLLEGE is currently investigating a Learning Management System (LMS) that will offer a parent portal and help improve the quality and frequency of communication with families. The COLLEGE will continue to share good news and current events via our COLLEGE Facebook and Instagram pages. We encourage families to like these pages as we share insights in learning and extra curricula experiences.

10 W HAT WIL L CLAS S S IZES LOOK LIKE? In 2019, most class sizes will vary from 26-28 learners. Of course, many practical subjects will have smaller class sizes. W HAT WIL L T H E CU R R IC ULUM OFFERINGS LOOK LIKE ? In Year 7 and 8 learners will experience a taste of all curriculum offerings. This includes the following: English, Science, Mathematics, History, Geography, Religion, Physical Education, Health, Positive Education, The Arts (Music, Drama, Visual Art, Design), Technology (Wood, Metal, Digital, Food, Textiles). In addition, all Year 7 & 8 Leaners will experience a research based subject that will explore Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) based concepts in a flexible learning environment. Learners will have a mentor teacher and access to a range of specialty teachers and facilities for this project. Learners will undertake a language (Italian or Japanese), which is compulsory in Years 7 and 8. In Year 9, learners will participate in the following core subjects: English, Science, Mathematics, History, Geography, Religion, Physical Education, Health and The Rite Journey.
