The l l o survivors are of all ages, races, backgrounds, and religions. Some of them a d are affluent and some live in poverty. And all are a reminder that no one is r u immune from domestic violence and sexual assault. f o y o One of our survivors came in last month, with a young son and her new s baby; she was bringing donations of kitchen items. She asked if she could g speak to me for a minute, and shared her story of coming to the shelter i n a few years ago with her son, after her soon to be ex-husband had again th help!

2 Become violent. She didn't want her son to continue to live in an abusive home, and had nowhere to go. She is back on her feet now, with a new life, and a husband who loves and cherishes her, her son, and their baby. Her gratitude was so heartfelt, it was a powerful reminder that the work we do to makes a difference every day. On the following pages, you will find some of the notes and messages we have received. We thought it was important to share these messages. After all, they're written to you as well. Because, without you, we couldn't be the DearCommunity SafeHouse Center that people throughout Washtenaw County have come to know and trust. In one hour we will show you with photos, testimonials, and myth-busters the journey of a survivor from a place of abuse and fear to a place of freedom and healing. We welcome the opportunity to visit your workplace during a Volunteering at SafeHouse lunch hour or small group training session. This is not a fundraising event;. we simply wish to share with you the work that we do. You will leave in- spired and informed! has become a passion of mine.
