6 Richard Ransom Dear Brothers and Sisters of our Partnering Parishes, I wish to draw your attention to the Letter of His Holiness Pope Francis addressed to us, the People of God. I reprinted his entire letter so that you and I can reflect on his words and his specific call to action of prayer and penance as we journey together as the People of God. Following his call to prayer and fasting, I invite you to consider joining me each month for two specific mo-ments of prayer and fasting. Prayer will take place at St. CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH for a holy Hour on these dates unless otherwise noted. Thursday before the First Friday of each month from 6:30-7 First Friday of each month at 3 for the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and then a holy Hour at 7 for reparation and grace.

7 Fasting and Penance will be on your own as you reflect on a plan that works for you given your age and health. Some examples of fasting could be: abstaining from food, drink, smoking, use of internet, television or other ways one utilizes their time and leisure. Some examples of penance could be offering certain prayers, and devotions ( , rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, Stations of the Cross), reading and reflecting on Sacred Scripture, and performing the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Next month, A Prayer Vigil of Reparation and Petition for Grace at the Cathedral-Basilica FEAST OF THE EXALTATION OF THE holy CROSS All Catholics of the greater Philadelphia area are invited to an evening of prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament to ask for His mercy upon His CHURCH in this moment of profound crisis.

8 On behalf of the Office for Divine Worship, I am sharing information about the Archdiocesan Prayer Vigil of Reparation and Petition on Friday, September 14th at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul from 5:00 until midnight. Lay faithful, consecrated men and women and clergy are invited to come together and pray for the victims of abuse and in reparation for the untold damage of sin, and with confidence, petition the Lord to provide for the cleansing and faithfulness of the members of his CHURCH . IN REPARATION FOR: We come to make reparation for our own sins and those of our bishops and priests. We come also in confident hope that from Christ s super abounding mercy will come the purification, healing and restoration of holiness for which we long.

9 IN PETITION FOR THE GRACES OF: Healing for the victims of sexual abuse; Purgation of the CHURCH from all evil; Rooting out of all compromise, infidelity and lukewarmness in our own lives and in those of our bishops and priests; and a New outpouring of the holy Spirit to set the CHURCH aflame with radical holiness, fidelity and zeal for the Gospel The doors of the Cathedral will be open to all who wish to come and pray during this period. Everyone is invited to make this a day of fasting. 5 PM to MIDNIGHT. Sincerely yours in Christ, Monsignor George A. Majoros #220 Please pray for the following people for whom Sanctuary and SAINT Anne s Chapel candles are burning the week of.
