Letter from the Pastor Dear St. Madeline Family, St. Valentine will always be associated with love, mar-riages and even chocolate! That s not a bad legacy. But it s hard for us mere mortals to live up to - at least for us who follow Jesus and His commandment of love. While Jesus is gentle and forgiving, He is also challenging: To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat judging and you will not be and you will be forgiven.
6 (Sunday Gospel) Loving and forgiving can be daunting to say the least, but it is possible, with the grace of God. Jesus doesn t ask for miracles nor does he want play forgiveness. He continually invites us not only to free the individual who wounded us, but also to free ourselves from the pain, anger and hurt that binds us. Jesus is pa-tient and yet persistent. He continually invites us and calls us to forgive. Perhaps today we can take one small step in this direction. Sr. Kristine Anne Harpenau, OSB Your small step begins with knowing that you cannot love and forgive by yourself, but it is possible, with the grace of God. And as Padre Pio says, prayer is the key that opens the heart of God. No matter what the difficulty is, trust in God and trust that prayer will help you navi-gate the stormy waters. Baby steps - take one small step in the right direction. God bless you and God bless the St.
