To inform the AQMD s 15million residents about air qualityconditions, the AQMD issues an airquality forecast each day and reportscurrent air quality conditions for eachnumbered Monitoring Area andGeneral Forecast Area depicted here. This air quality information istransmitted to the public throughnewspapers, television, radio andpager services, through faxes toschools, through recorded messageson the AQMD s toll free SmogUpdate telephone line, 1 800 CUT SMOG, and on the AQMD s InternetWebsite Newspapers, television andradio stations typically will report airquality information using the GeneralForecast Areas, shown in color below,which are larger groupings of the morespecific Air Monitoring Areas.

The AQMD s InternetWebsite provides both forecasts aswell as smog levels for that day andthe previous day.
