8 GENERAL Definitions In addition to the terms referred to in Volume 1, Part 3, the General Conditions of Contract, the following, where used in this specification , shall have the meanings listed below:- The word specified shall mean specified herein or in the TECHNICAL Schedules. The word Engineer shall mean the Project Manager. Project Description The Project, designated as the Kenya Power Transmission System Improvement Project (Transmission Component) for the purpose of reinforcing and expanding existing 33kV and 11kV electricity distribution networks through the expansion of its existing 132kV transmission network with new 132kV line circuits, new 132/33kV substations and/or expansion of existing 132/33kV substations.
9 The Project comprises three (3) contracts with the facilities outlined in general as follows, of which only the Transmission components of Lot 1 are specified in these Employer s Requirements. 1. Lot 1 Construction of Lessos Kabarnet, Nanyuki Nyahururu, Olkaria Narok, Sotik Bomet 132kV Transmission Lines with a total length of 245km. 2. Lot 2 Construction of Ishiara Kieni, Mwingi Kitui Wote Sultan Hamud 132kV Transmission Lines with a total Length of 188km. 3. Lot 3 Eight new 132/33kV Substations at Kieni, Kabarnet, Nyahururu, Narok, bomet, Kitui, Wote and Sultan Hamud and six 132kV Outgoing bays at Ishiara, Lessos, Nanyuki, Olkaria, sotik and Mwingi All the three above Packages shall be executed on a Design, Supply, Erection and Commissioning contractual basis.
10 Nature of Work The contract outlines the construction of 188km of 132kV single circuit overhead transmission line connecting the proposed substation at Kieni, Kitui, Wote and Sultan Hamud.
