1 February 11, 2013 Self-Instructional Packet (SIP) Specialized Training for New or Existing Employees Infection prevention and control (IPC) In DBHDD Hospitals Policy #03-517 Information This Self-Instructional Packet (SIP) gives certain categories of new and existing hospital employees ( , physicians, psychiatrists, dentists and nurses) the option of using a self -paced method of receiving Training on Infection prevention and control (IPC). After completing this Training Packet , you are considered to be informed and competent about the basic practices of infection prevention and control in DBHDD hospitals. However, you must also complete the Instructor-led Course on the DBHDD Infection prevention and control (IPC) Policy #03-517 and hospital-specific Exposure control Plans.
2 See your hospital s Training Program Administrator (TPA) for details. Contents of the SIP Advanced Infection prevention and control Training Modules(Modules One through Five) Competency Exams (Modules One through Five)Instructions and Guidelines 1. Read each Training Complete the Competency Exam for each must complete the electronic Competency Exams (for Modules One-Five) within the Learning Management System. (Employees should not complete the exams without first completing the Advanced Training Modules). A score of 85% or higher on each exam is considered passing. If the employee scores less than 85% on the first attempt: He/she will be able to independently review the Training modules and retest within the Learning Management System in one week.
3 If the employee scores less than 85% on the exam retake: The Training Program Administrator (TPA) or designee will schedule an appointment for remediation with the employee and the Nurse Educator/ Nurse Trainer. The Nurse Educator/Nurse Trainer will review the Training modules with theemployee. Once remediation is successfully completed, the NurseEducator/Nurse Trainer will notify the TPA or designee via e-mail to reassign theSIP to the employee. The employee will retest within one week of remediation.(NOTE: The Training Program Administrator or designee will pull weekly reports to review employees status (scores, completion rates, etc.). Reminder: After successfully completing the Training modules and five competency exams, contact your hospital s Training Program Administrator in the Staff Development and Training Office to schedule a time for you to attend the instructor-led course on the Infection prevention and control (IPC) Policy #03-517 and hospital-specific Exposure control Plans.)
