2 : 19-NA-206 Correction5386336 Verify the condition and following the steps in the Service Procedure below, install anIn-line Shifter Wire Harness Jumper between the shifter base connector and the consoleharness Procedure1. Park the vehicle in a repair stall and turn theignition Remove the transmission control lever knob (3).Refer toTransmission Control Lever KnobReplacementin :Cleaning the Park Switch electricalcontacts is a very critical part of the repair these steps are not Clean the Park Switch electrical contacts by doingthe following Depress the actuation rod fully with yourthumb or a trim Release the actuation rod by sliding yourthumb or the trim stick off the rod, allowing therod to snap back to the full up Repeat 50 Start the vehicle and verify that the Shift to Parkmessage is NOT displayed: If the Shift to Park message IS still displayed,stop here and replace the shift controlassembly.

3 Refer to the appropriateTransmission Control Replacementin SI. If the Shift to Park message IS NOT displayed,proceed ahead to step # No.: 19-NA-206 September, 2019 Page 35386344 Note:On most models, to gain access to the shiftcontrol wiring connector, it will only be necessary toremove the front floor console trim plate, however someof those procedures involve repositioning the :On some models, it may be necessary to removethe front floor console trim plate AND reposition theconsole assembly. For those models, refer toFrontFloor Lower Console Replacementin Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer tothe appropriateFront Floor Console Trim PlateReplacementin Disconnect the body harness from the Shift :Ensure the jumper harness is not twisted orkinked in a 90 degree Install the In-line Shifter Harness Jumper on theShift Control assembly, and then connect the otherend to the Body Start the vehicle and verify that the Shift to Parkmessage is NOT Reinstall the front floor console trim plate and anyother console and/or trim panels removed.
