1 kwikee electric StepsClub News - 60 - July 06 Service TipsFor years most Winnebago Industriesproducts have utilized kwikee brandsteps in a variety of the components of the step haveevolved over time the basic system hasremained the same. The following information appears inthe current kwikee step owner s manu-al. See your owner s manual for theinformation specific to the step used onyour Winnebago Industries is available from yourWinnebago Industries dealer. Ask forWinnebago Ind. part number all mud, salt and road grimefrom the step before all moving parts (bearings,pivot points, slides, clevis pin, anddrive linkage ball) every 30 days with agood quality moisture and heat resist-ant penetrating grease. KwikLubeTMSpray Grease is spe-cially formulated to lubricate KwikeeElectric Steps and is recommended forlubricating all moving parts. Refer tothe figures at right for lubrication :Silicone lubricants and WD-40 are not recommended as they mayevaporate and dry the mating surfaceswhich leave them vulnerable to the :Figures are to be used forgeneral reference purposes only.

This formu-lation also contains additives to prevent rust and reduce on next page Club News - 61 - July 06 Service TipsAfter thoroughly cleaning and lubri-cating your step , check the cam stopsfor proper adjustment using the follow-ing procedure: Adjusting the Cam Stops24, 25, 27, 28A*, 32, 34, 35, 36, 38and 40 Series StepsKwikee steps are fitted withadjustable cam stops on the step framethat help lock the step in the out position, creating a firm stepping plat-form. The cam is adjusted at the facto-ry but may fall out of adjustment andneed to betightened dueto the rigors ofshipping,installationand cam stops are located under thestep top on the 28A*, 32, 36, and 38 Series Steps, and on the bottom treadside rail on the 24, 25, 27 and 40 SeriesSteps.
4 There is one stop on each side ofthe the stops so they movefreely and retract the the step fully to itslocked extended position (seeFigure 8). Be sure that the motorassembly linkage rests against thegear case as illustrated in Figure if needed until the motorassembly locks in the Push the stops against the legand tighten securely (see Figure 9).Be sure that both stops are tight-ened and that they rest securelyagainst the Retract and fully extend thestep. Check the motor assembly tobe sure that it islocked all the wayout, and that bothstops are secureagainst the the aboveprocedures if need-ed to properly adjust the Push on the front edge of the steptread. If the step seems loose, repeatthe above procedures. 5 If the cam stopsare not properly adjusted thestep may not extend fully to thelocked-out position.
