1 Setup Instructions for FortiClient ssl vpn Employees currently using the web based ssl vpn (Accessed from ) may notice after installing the Windows 10 update 1709 or later that VPN through your web browser no longer functions and will not get past collecting information . Going forward, you will need to use the Windows FortiClient program. You will find this is actually simpler than the web based VPN, and is installed already on your system when the FortiClient VPN plug in was installed using the web browser method. To use the Windows FortiClient follow the following steps: 1. In the Windows Start Menu, locate the FortiClient application shortcut and click it. 2. In the empty dialog that appears, click the button in the lower left corner, and click New Connection. The New Connection Settings window appears.
2 We are going to create and save a connection so that the information does not have to be entered each time. 3. Fill in the form as shown. Connection Name: DSI ssl vpn Server Address: :10443 User Name: Your Windows User Name Password: Your Windows Password Click OK, and OK again to save. 4. Click Connect to test your connection. You should see a screen similar to the one on the right. When you are done using VPN, simply click the Disconnect button. 5. To make using the Windows FortiClient even easier, you can pin it to the Window Start Menu. To do this, right click the icon as shown at left and select Pin To Start. 6. If you would like to create a shortcut on the desktop, find the icon in the Windows Start Menu, hold the left mouse button on it and drag a shortcut to the desktop as shown on the right.
3 Now, whenever you need to use VPN, your login and server information will be stored, and you can just enter your password and click Connect. If you ever need to re enter the information or reinstall the client (such as logging into another computer or as a different user) just follow the steps above again.
