Since 2007 Walker and Latte Bubbling Over the …

Last year when I was sitting in the wheel chair at this time of the year, I would have never thought in a million years I would have $100k won at this time. I knew I had a horse good enough to be a NFR horse, but to win a $100,000 in a year, that s the stuff the Lindsay Sears, Sherry Cervis, Brittany Pozzis of the world do! That is from fi rst time NFR bound barrel racer, Mary Walker , after her big win in Ellensburg, WA. The win pushed her over the $100,000 mark for the year. She has moved to #4 in the world with $111,337 in earnings just a year removed from a bad horse wreck, losing a son and ending 2011 at #104 in the World with $8, She didn t even qualify to the limited entry rodeos over the winter. Amazing the difference a year can make. At Ellensburg, like so many rodeos this year, Latte , aka Big Brown, aka Perculatin, just got better and better with each round. In the fi rst round they tied for third with a time of , the second round he picked up the pace a little more to win the round with a , then in true Latte fashion he smoked in the Finals running a Latte and Walker won the round by 2 tenths and the average by almost 3/4 of a second, which is a lifetime in barrel racing!

1 Last year when I was sitting in the wheel chair at this time of the year, I would have never thought in a million years I would have $100k won at this time.

2 Her total earnings for Ellensburg were $8,063. My fi rst run he (Perculatin) worked real, real good. He slipped behind the fi rst barrel but worked good. The second run he worked really good again. Then in the Finals he ran really hard; I even lost my hat between the fi rst and second barrel. I hate losing my hat but I just fi gured he was running so fast it just fl ew off ! said Walker talking about her runs. She also placed 5th at Walla Walla, WA to bring her total weekend earnings up to $9,136. Through the summer, Latte and Walker have done so much winning, at Ellensburg he even enjoyed the victory lap while the whole crowd stood up and cheered for the dynamic duo. They didn t have a victory lap horse so I had to ride Latte . That s the fi rst time I have ever done that on him. I fi gured he might try to run through the alleyway, but he just loped around. It s easy to see that they ve become old pros at winning rodeos.

3 This summer Walker and Latte have won some of the big ones; Cheyenne, Missoula, Window Rock and now Ellensburg. Latte is doing great, feels good and looks good and according to Walker , As long as he has feed in front of him and you pet on him, he is great! Walker is headed to Puyallup for two runs on Saturday and then she ll head home and go on to Albuquerque, Abilene, and Pasa-dena, to make sure she gets to the Texas Circuit Finals. She currently sits eleventh in the Texas Circuit and needs to pick up a few more checks to insure her trip to the Circuit Finals. Then she and Latte will head to Kansas City and to the Justin Boots Championship in Omaha, NE to fi nish out their year. When asked about the 2012 NFR, I think Latte will like the NFR. He enjoys the crowd and he gets better every run in the same place. I m a little nervous, but I m looking forward to it. I am ready for the NFR. In her closing comments about her win and her year, Walker sums it up for all the people involved in barrel racing saying, I ve enjoyed every one of the barrel racers I ve met.

4 When you meet them, they are great people. It s just been a great year.
