Thisleadership extends far beyond bearingsand SKF is focused on five platformsthat cover its technical knowledge andcapabilities.

The five platforms include:Bearings and units, seals , Mechatronics,Services and Lubrication Services. SKFutilizes the capabilities of all these plat-forms to offer its customers a tailor-made proposition that will, in turn, strengthen their offer to their customersor that would make their own produc-tion more effective. Whether reducingenergy consumption or the need forlubricants, SKF innovative solutions canhelp safeguard earth s limited resourcesfor future Group has a global ISO 14001environmental certification. Individualdivisions have been approved for qualitycertification in accordance with eitherISO 9000 or QS 9000. Some 80manufacturing sites worldwide andsales companies in 70 countries makeSKF a truly international corporation.

In addition, our 7 000 distributors anddealer partners around the world, thee-business marketplace and globaldistribution system put SKF close tocustomers for the supply of both pro-ducts and services. In essence, SKFsolutions are available wherever andwhenever our customers need , the SKF brand now stands formore than ever before. It stands for theknowledge engineering company readyto serve you with world-class productcompetencies, intellectual resources andthe vision to help you and sealing technology are essen-tial parts of the capabilities of from SKF stand for excellence and leadership and symbolize consistentendeavour to achieve total quality in allprocesses and imply three main benefitsfor our customers:Reliability thanks to modern, efficientproducts, based on worldwide applica-tion know-how, optimized materials,forward-looking designs and the mostadvanced production techniques.

Market lead an advantage of ourproducts and services. Our customersincrease operating time, reduce down-time, and improve output and productquality. Cost effectiveness resulting from thefavourable ratio between our productquality plus service facilities and thepurchase price of the publication is aimed to provide anoverview of the SKF seals , their designcharacteristics and their suitability fordifferent application conditions. It pre-sents the SKF product range of seals ,which is available throughout the matter what your requirements are,SKF can help you get exactly the rightsealing arrangement for your you are welcome to share the SKFexpertise in sealing technology. Wherever there is a bearing , you will always find a seal helping it toreach its maximum service life and reliability. The most common types of seals usedin bearing arrangements, are radial shaft seals for use in general Industrial applica-tions with shaft diameters up to 200 mm or 8 inch respectively. The large diameterseals, for shaft diameters above 200 mm, provide special features and are intendedfor use in heavy and large-size engineering applications, which require either verylarge or specially designed seals .

In general terms, a radial shaft seal is a barrierwith four main functions:6a: Radial shaft sealb: Shaftc: Bearingd: Lubricantdcba1: Retaining the lubricant2: Separating twodifferent media3: Sealing underpressure4: Excluding dirtand moistureOn the following pages, the standard range of our radial shaft seals is presented, with a short description of the main features for each seal type and design andrecommendations regarding selection and application. Obviously, in this publication, it is not possible to cover all the technical aspects sufficiently for all individual application requirements. Therefore, reference should be made in general to the catalogue SKF Industrial shaft seals , where comprehensive, technical data for eachtype and design can be found.

For information about availability and delivery time forthe assortment of SKF radial shaft seals , please contact your nearest SKF represen-tative or authorized shaft sealsCRW198In addition to seal design, the sealing lip material significantly contributes to sealperformance and reliability. To cater for the different demands of applications, SKFseals are produced in a variety of sealing lip materials, see list below. These materialshave characteristics, individual properties, making them particularly suitable forspecific about physical properties and the chemical resistance of the seal materials to various media encountered in operation will be found in the section Chemicalresistance in the catalogue SKF Industrial shaft seals .

Codes are used to identify the sealing lip material of SKF seals and are listed in thetable below. The codes also appear in the designations of the radial shaft seals .
