Transcription of Skyline Trail - Hiking
1 Skyline Trail A part of the David Boren Hiking Trail , from the Beaver Lodge Trail to Cedar Bluff Nature Trail at the south end of Broken Bow Lake in Beavers Bend State Park. Length: 8 miles ( miles of Trail plus miles on the road to return to the trailhead). Difficulty: Strenuous Usage: Hiking GPS reading: N 34 W 94 . From Hwy 259 take 259A east miles to Beavers Bend State Park. Continue one mile to the Forest Heritage Center, where you turn left. When the road dead-ends, turn left again and proceed past the fly shop and the To Scenic miniature train. The trailhead Skyline Trail Hw Hwy. on your left is marked by a green wooden sign for the y Beaver Lodge Trail .
2 The Trail . 259 starts beyond a gate at the A. northwest end of the parking NORTH lot. 0 Mile The Trail starts down a wide . double-track across a bridge Trailhead USGS Topo Map: over the river. Follow the Stephens Gap Trail northwest for about half . a il R a mile to the trailhead for Tr oadway n e the Skyline Trail . The Trail k yli is well marked. Cross over S.. Dev the wooden bridge on your il's Backbone left and immediately begin Ro Trail a steep uphill climb. At little ad wa Intersects more than one mile the Trail River Bend y Roadway meets a gravel road. After Rec Area Cedar Bluff you travel down the gravel Nature Trail road to your right a few hundred yards the Trail exits to the left.
3 Hw At three miles you cross Bee 25.. y 9A Creek three times: across, back, and then across again. During most of the year you can cross on rocks. When the water flows in the spring you may have to wade. Just on the other side of the last crossing is an extremely steep climb: steps have been constructed in the side of the hill. After six miles you come to a beautiful overlook and an intersection with the Cedar Bluff Nature Trail , which is on your left. Take this Trail to the trailhead on Hwy 259A. The Cedar Bluff Trail is marked with blue blazes. From here turn left and walk miles back to the trailhead parking on the road. This walk along the road is a pleasant hike through pretty scenery back across the Mountain Fork River.
