2 Thereclosers are designed for threephase automatic or manual tripoperation providing overcurrent protection for systems rated up to38kV maximum, 800A continuous,and rms symmetrical interrupting. FEATURESR eliable performance -Viper-Sreclosers utilize G&W s time provenepoxy polymer system to fullyencapsulate the vacuum system provides excellent insulation properties while providingfully shielded, void-free modules are UV protected and100% factory tested for partial discharge. The Viper-S recloser utilizes the latest in magnetic actuator technology. The interrupterand actuator assembly are testedannually for 10,000 mechanical operations to ensure a long servicelife.

3 If AC power is lost, the recloserhas enough stored energy to triponce, after the control sends the tripcommand, within a 24 hour Flexibility - Viper-Sreclosers are designed to work witha variety of different controls including Schweitzer s SEL-351R,Falcon , SEL-651R, SEL-351S,GE s URC and others. Operator Safety -Vacuum inter-rupters are sealed within a soliddielectric insulation. A hookstickoperable manual trip and lockouthandle prohibits operation eitherfrom the control or remotely. Amechanical blocking device furtherassures against accidental closethrough the handle.

Amulti-ratio current transformer isencapsulated within the module. Thecurrent transformer is provided atratios of 500:1 and 1000:1. Inputs tothe control are field changeable. CT accuracy is +/-1%. Optional capacitive style voltage sensorsencapsulated within each modulepermit voltage reading for networkreconfiguration while eliminating theneed for add-on sensors and amplitude sensing accuracyto +/- 5% over the temperature range+65 C through -20 C when tested asa system.

Complete Lazer automation packages are available offering apre-engineered solution for applica-tions requiring intelligent automaticswitching and power restoration. Thepackages feature one or more pro-tective relays, (typically Schweitzer),equipped with distribution and com-munication capabilities. A remote status signal reports the operationalstatus of the interrupter power supply permitting remote indicationof the control s capability to open orclose the recloser. Custom Relay Solutions (CRS) -The CRS option permits using48 VDC or 125 VDC control logicvoltage as an alternative totraditional 14-pin SEL, Cooper andGE controls which use 24 VDC forcontrol logic.
