2 PRODUCT DATA SHEET SP-4 888 DAMP Surface Coating DESCRIPTION: SP-4888 Damp Sur face Coating is a two-component epoxy coa ting de velope d specifically for application on wet or damp steel surfaces . In addition, it may be applied on dry steel surfaces with equal corrosion pr otection properties. Whe n applied as directed, SP-4888 Damp Sur face Coating is an excellent corros ion pr otection coa ting with superior adhesion and resistance to cathodic disbonding at temperatures up to 80 C (176 F). ADVANTAGES: 100% S olids No VOCs. Isocyana te f ree. Excellent adhesion to wet, damp or dry g rit-blasted steel surfaces , Fusion Bond Epoxy (FBE) and Fiber Reinforced Plastic ( FRP). Excellent r esistance to high temperature cathodic disbonding at t emperatures up to 80 C ( 176 F).

3 USES: Exterior coa ting of pipeline s, structures or other steel surfaces that may be w et or da mp due to the environment or a s a result of atmospheric c ondensation. Below ground cor rosion control on pipe, piping a ssemblies, valve assemblies, pipe components and girth welds. Retains its corrosion protection properties when also applied on dry steel surfaces . Surface PREPARATION: (Steel Substrate) Cleanliness : Near White Standar ds : NACE 2, Sa 2 (Swedish Scale, ISO 8501-1) : SSPC SP-10 (The S oc iety for Protective Coatings) Prof ile : microns minimum to 125 microns maximum ( mils to 5 mils) Minimum Substrat e T emperat ure 5 C (41 F) Note: No rust formation shall be a llowed on the pipe p rior to the coa ting application.

5 If rust formation occur s, the sur face shall be re-bl asted. If c onditions are such t hat l ight flash rusting of the substrate may occur b efore it can be c oa ted, the Surface shall be w etted to maintain dampness pr ior to the c oa ting application. MIXING RATIO: By Volume: 2 Parts Base to 1 Part Harde ne r RECOMMENDED FILM THICKNESS: Standar d Corrosion P rotection: mm minimum to mm (20 mils to 50 mils).
