It can beused to get an idea of how you may perform on the actual placement test. You should not studythe content of this exam when preparing to take your upcoming placement test as none of thequestions on this practice exam will be on the actual actual Foreign LANGUAGE placement test s purpose is to help determine theappropriate level in which you should continue your study of SPANISH at the college level. It isavailable to all UW-System students to place them in the first through fifth semesters of languagestudy. Because the test must cover such a wide range of levels, the questions vary considerablein their level of difficulty. When you take the actual placement test, you will have 60 minutes to complete it.

2 Workrapidly and carefully and do not spend too much time on any one question. There is only ONEcorrect answer for each question. Answer all questions to the best of your ability and make aneducated guess if you are unsure of an answer. Please note that items of all difficulty levelsappear throughout the entire test, so be sure to attempt all items. Your score will be based on thetotal number of correct answers, so there is no penalty for guessing. If you finish the test beforethe allotted time has expired, go back and re-check your order to get the most accurate assessment using this practice test, you should try toduplicate the actual testing situation as closely as possible. When taking this test, you should notuse any additional materials, such as translation dictionaries, or look up the answers to thequestions. You should only allow yourself 60 minutes to take this test and should take the test ina quiet room where you will not be interrupted, if possible.
