Questions: Tom & Kerry Marsh WHAT S HAPPENING AROUND ST. Robert S? THE TABLE OF CHRIST Today s Gospel is another Resurrection Story. The apostles are in Galilee, about 100 miles north of Je-rusalem. Peter decides to go fishing. They catch nothing all night. Morning comes, and as they re pulling in, they see a man on the beach. He tells them to lower the nets over the side. Next thing you know, the nets are overflowing with fish.

9 D j vu! This happened once before when Jesus first called some of them to be His apostles. The stranger on the beach is the Risen Jesus! In Israel, there is a tiny Church on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee called the Church of the Primacy. It s built around a long, low rock in the ground. Tradition says this is where Jesus and the apostles sat and ate their breakfast of fish that morning. A sign on the rock identifies it as Mensa Christi Latin for The Table of Christ . We don t get to have breakfast with Jesus, but we do get to come to the Table of Christ. Every time we come to Mass, we are invited to a heavenly table where we receive the Bread of the Angels Jesus, Himself in the Holy Eucharist. It s the same Jesus who stood on the beach that morning. The apostles were thrilled to see Jesus.

10 Peter was so excited he couldn t wait for the boat to reach the beach. He jumped in and swam ashore. We, too, are blessed to be in the presence of Jesus. Are we just as excited as St. Peter to be with Him and receive the food He gives to us? Deacon Phil ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL That time of year again Time for the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). Pledge cards are available this weekend and next. You can also donate online. This QR Code will take there. Or, you can text ACA to 243725.
