Confirmation 2019 The Confirmation Programme will begin after Christmas. Confirmation is a beautiful and important Sacrament, giving the young people of our parish (Year 10 at college/school) the opportunity to confirm that they have a relationship with God - at whatever level, whether it s daily prayer to get them through the day, thankful prayer at the end of the day or less-often-prayer when they are struggling with something and they find their dormant-but-there faith.

2 Parents, family, parish - all have contributed to giving them the tools they need to have a relationship with God - through Baptism, coming to Mass, receiving Communion - and sensible, relevant-to-them guidance - and receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation helps them continue with their faith and relationship. Please start talking with your children if they are in Year 10 and let them know this Sacrament is their opportunity to hold on to their faith, a faith that s been planted in them and help it grow. Ideally all Catholics should be Confirmed if you are an adult who has never been Confirmed, you might like to consider joining the Wednesday evening RCIA course in The Priest s House, as preparation for being Confirmed here at Easter 2019.

Confirmation 2019 The Confirmation Programme will begin after Christmas. If your children are in Year 10 please take this time to explain this Sacrament is their opportunity to receive the Holy Spirit and confirm, remember, hold on to their faith, a faith that was planted in them at their baptism. Second Collection for Retired Priests ~ 3 and 4 November 2018 Bishop Richards writes: Every year at least 200,000 is needed for the support of our retired priests.

4 The amounts incurred are likely to increase in coming years as more priests reach retirement age. This support ensures that priests do not face financial hardship when their parish ministry comes to an end. While in active parish ministry, priests accommodation and domestic needs are met by the parish and a modest personal income is usually provided from offerings at Christmas, Easter and from baptisms, weddings and funerals. There is no charge to the parish for pension contributions to fund the future needs for their priest. The Retired Priests Fund supplies these needs, whether the priest is able to live independently or whether more care is required.

5 In recent years, this collection has contributed only a fraction of the amount needed. Please give generously so that we can express our concern and gratitude towards those who have served us so loyally over the years. Thank you. Parish Coffee Morning Do please join us in the Parish Centre after am Mass on Tuesday 6 November for tea, coffee and conversation with fellow parishioners. First Holy Communion Prayer Father in Heaven, our children are preparing for their First Holy Communion next May. We ask you to be with them so that they may grow in their understanding of the Scriptures, of the Sacraments and especially of the gift of your Son in The Eucharist.

6 Please inspire parents, grandparents and the children s catechists to be supportive, thorough in teaching and personal examples of Christian living to inspire all those preparing for First Holy Communion.
