7 THE TOM GARNER MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT - A retreat Tradition!Tom Garner was an outstanding School lawyer and posthumous recipient of the Kelly Frels Lifetime Achievement Award, whose work on behalf of School districts honored the highest standards of ethical conduct and public policy. He was also an inveterate golfer who couldn t quit the game long after it quit him. We honor Tom s memory each year with a high-handicapper scramble at the easiest course within reach, the main goal of which is to share camaraderie, so unique to the School Law Section , among lawyers representing clients from every perspective in the School law community. The Tom Garner Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at the Hyatt Hill Country Golf Club Friday, July 28 at 1:00 PM. Friday Night Dinner: The State Bar of Texas School Law Section will host a dinner at the resort Friday, July 27 at 7:00 (cocktails at 6:30 ) for all retreat attendees and their guests.
