2 BEFORE YOU GOMAP AND Visitor GUIDE2021 22 State PARKS AND RECREATION AREAS Minnesota has thousands of trailer and carry-in access sites for boaters. Amenities at each site vary. Water trails are great places to explore in a canoe or kayak. Find a river for your skill level. Children under age 10 must wear a properly fitted life jacket, and everyone else must have a wearable life jacket readily available. These electric cooperatives help fund this Guide and they donate volunteer time each year to help spruce up Minnesota s State Touchstone Energy Cooperatives of Minnesota encourage campers to minimize their carbon footprint when visiting Minnesota parks, trails, forests and recreation areas.

3 The cooperatives also encourage people to drive electric. Electric vehicle owners will be pleased to know EV charging stations are available at some Minnesota State an example of energy efficiency, visit Whitewater State park to see how rooftop solar panels on the shower building are used to conserve energy while providing the electricity needed to heat water and use LED lighting. The Minnesota DNR maintains more than 600 miles of paved State trails. Many are former railroad lines that are flat and accessible. Passes are required for horse riding, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. All other State trail use is free. Snowmobile trails open Dec. 1, if the ground is frozen and there is adequate snow cover for grooming.

Minnesota State forests have thousands of miles of off-highway vehicle trails. The 8 million acres encompassed by Minnesota State forests are home to moose, deer, bear, and ruffed grouse.
