4 Through attending two Seminars hosted by Paris based facilitators with considerable Experience of working with Disneyland Paris and featuring back-stage video interviews and footage filmed exclusively for Study Experiences By taking part in our interactive Workshop which encourags the students to use their knowledge of STEM subjects principles in a real life scenario Completing Assignments during their time in the Parks and at the Resort Seminar OneRoller Coaster ScienceRoller Coaster Forces and Motion: Following a brief introduction to Disneyland Paris , students will be introduced to the work of the in-park designers. We ll be investigating the design aspects of its world-famous coasters and exploring some of the core scientific principles used in the process such as the principles behind potential and kinetic energy. Roller Coaster Maths: We will discover the use of maths in building geometry and formulae for calculating height, energy, distance and speed. We will also see the part maths plays in calculating theoretical hourly ride Coasters and the Human Body: Students will explore the effects of Roller coasters on the human body, including experiencing those rapid twists and turns, weightlessness and the safety aspects behind Roller Coaster addition, we will examine the Disney values of emotion, service and creativity, an essential aspect of everyone s work at the resort that can be replicated in our own livesWe are very pleased to have the services of Disneyland Paris Senior Ride Engineer, Mike Kent, to give us these fascinated insights on Roller coasters and science on video.

5 Assignments relevant to Seminar One include: Roller Coaster metals The scientific principles behind Roller coasters Roller Coaster safety Theme park mathsInteractive WorkshopThe Workshop provides a practical and fun, opportunity for students to apply knowledge of STEM subjects to a real-life task. Working in teams of eight, students will use their skills to design a new Roller Coaster for Disneyland Paris . For example, students could explore the use of gravity and potential and kinetic energy in their design, or the importance of good material will need to combine their understanding of their core subjects with the practicalities of creating fun entertainment for guests and the Disney values. Particular emphasis will be given to working as a team, communicating and meeting a deadline. At the end of the Workshop teams will present their plans to a mock Disney management panel comprising of the facilitator and participating teachers who will ask questions and provide feedback to the team.

6 Once back at school or college, students will be able to use this feedback to complete their project and enter the Student Challenge, should you wish them to do TwoSTEM in ActionMaterial Selection: The seminar begins with an in-depth investigation into the materials used on Roller Coaster ride cars, and sees how some materials masquerade as others. We follow by considering the importance of the correct material selection for the floats and costumes that go out in the Parades 365 days a year, in all and Special Effects: The resort is well known for the animatronics at work on the major attractions. We are pleased to be able to take you behind the scenes, on video, to see how they are designed and maintained. We will consider the computer technology used to produce the Disney Dreams night-time show featuring computer mapping, av projection, lasers and fireworks and investigate the signage and materials developed for Toy Story Playland and and the Environment: With the help of the landscaping and special effects teams here at the resort we will discover the part science and theming plays in the day to day running of Disneyland Paris , and the importance Disney places on maintaining the the Disney cast members appearing on video in Seminar Two including Senior Ride Engineer Mike Kent; Director of Nature and Environment Luc Behar Bannelier; Environment Manager Nicole Ouimet, together with Walt Disney Imagineers Steve Davison, Chuck Davis and Dave Bossert.

Led by one of our team of Paris -based facilitators, with considerable Experience of the Resort and its working methods, students will explore how Disneyland Paris uses many key examination topics to carry out its planning and day to day activities. Our facilitators will engage your students in thinking about how their subject is seen in action in the WorkshopFor the workshop, students will initially be divided into groups of 30-40, then split into smaller teams of 8-10 and encouraged to participate in a fun, interactive learning Experience with our professional facilitator.

8 They will be treated as though they are Disney professionals and the facilitator will guide and inspire them to work as a team, meet a realistic deadline and communicate their ideas persuasively as well as testing some core subject skills. It is highly recommended that teachers play an active part in the workshops by encouraging their students in their work and assisting the facilitator in providing ChallengeFollowing on from the Seminars, Workshop and Assignments, students are able to take part in the Student Challenge on their return to the UK. The Challenge enables students to develop their specialist areas of interest. 9 The timings of these will be available approximately four weeks prior to the Day Tour by CoachDay OneYour coach will collect you from your school or college early in the morning for the journey to the Channel port and your crossing to Calais. Once in France, the journey from Calais to Disneyland Paris takes approximately five hours. On arrival at Disneyland Paris , you will be met by the Study Experiences resort team, who will assist you with check-in at your hotel. The resort team will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have throughout your stay.
