1 Strathcona Trail and area Conditions Starting May 15th, trails are being assessed by Park Facility Operators and Rangers as time permits, with updates provided on the detailed Trail report shown below. 2 Visitors should be aware that mountain weather in the park can change drastically and quickly. Early mornings can be cold and frosty, creating slipping hazards on boardwalks. Snowy Conditions should be expected at higher elevations. Visitors are reminded that fires are not permitted anywhere or at any time (all seasons) within Strathcona Park except in authorized and provided BC Parks steel fire rings. This regulation is in effect at all times of the year. No open fires are allowed in any backcountry areas. Reminder: Backcountry camping fees are in effect from June 15, to September 30th.

3 Persons 16 years & over are $10 per person/night, children (5-16 years) are $5 per person/night, and children 5 years and under- no charge. Backcountry fees are applicable in the core fee zones along the Bedwell Lakes/Cream Lake Trail , Elk River Trail and Forbidden Plateau areas. Buttle Lake area Marine Locations: Trail area : Latest Condition: Last Updated: Boat Launches Boat with caution and look for submerged hazards. 4x4 vehicles recommended for launching boats at boat launches due to water level being low and causing vehicles to back off the cement boat launch onto gravel.

4 Construction of new ramps complete at Karst Creek and Buttle Lake boat launches. Oct. 16th, 2019 Marine Sites Titus, Wolf, Phillips, Rainbow Island, and Upper Campbell No service at this time. Backcountry Marine fees and service are in effect from June 15th Sept 30th: - Persons 16 years and over $10 per person/night - Children 6-15 years $5 per person/night - Children 5 and under no charge. Self-registration fee stations are located at boat launches (Buttle/Karst) and day-use areas (Karst/Lupin/Auger Pt). All Marine sites have tent pads and tables.

5 Oct. 16th, 2019 Nature Walks and Short Trails: Trail area : Latest Condition: Last Updated: Karst Creek Beware of rock fall hazard at falls viewing area . Obey posted signage. Oct. 16th, 2019 Lady Falls, Elk River Viewpoint, Crest Crags, Lupin Falls, Wild Ginger, Shepherd Creek, Lower Myra Falls, Trails clear. Beware of frost on boardwalks during cold weather, especially in mornings. Oct. 16th, 2019 Auger Point Trail is clear. No further notices at this time Oct. 16th, 2019 Buttle Lake area Trails: Trail area : Latest Condition: Last Updated: Elk River Trail is clear to landslide lake.

6 An area of Trail erosion has been repaired with a new retaining wall at approx. 6km from the trailhead. Oct. 16th, 2019 Crest Mountain Not inspected yet. Expect windfall throughout Trail . Oct. 16th, 2019 King s Peak Trail is Clear to Kings Peak. Oct. 16th, 2019 Bedwell Lakes/Cream Lake Trail is clear to Cream Lake. No facilities present at Cream Lake wilderness camping only. Toilet facilities, tent pads, and bear proof food caches are all available at Main and Baby Bedwell lakes. NOTE: Access road has been improved. 2WD accessible.

7 Be aware that ore hauling is ongoing each night from 7pm to 7am. Follow instructions of flag people. Oct. 16th, 2019 Price Creek Price Creek route no longer maintained. Advanced navigation skills required on this route. Recommend accessing Cream Lake from Bedwell Lakes Trail . Oct. 16th, 2019 Upper Myra Falls Trail is clear of snow and windfall. Oct. 16th, 2019 Arnica Lake/Phillips Ridge Trail is clear up to Arnica Lake. New bridge has been closed for winter in anticipation of snow loads. Hikers may use the older creek crossing at the moutn of Arnica Lake.

8 Trail beyond arnica Lake towards Phillips Ridge is not Oct. 16th, 2019 maintained by BC Parks, but is in good condition. Tennent Lake/Mount Myra Trail not yet inspected in 2019. Expect windfall and snow at high elevations Oct. 16th, 2019 Flower Ridge Trail is clear of windfall, but has thick brush in places. Oct. 16th, 2019 Marble Meadows Trail is clear of windfall. Oct. 16th, 2019 Forbidden Plateau area Trails Trail area : Latest Condition: Last Updated: Paradise Meadows Trailhead Trails open, Strathcona Wilderness Hut is closed.

9 Beware of frost covered boardwalks in early mornings and in cold weather. Oct. 16th, 2019 Helen Mackenzie/ Battleship Loop, Helen Mackenzie to Kwai Lake via Croteau Lake, Cruickshank Canyon Lookout, Helen Mackenzie to Circlet Lk, Amphitheatre Lake, Moat Lake, Mount Albert Edward, Wood Mountain Traverse All trails are open and clear of obstruction. CIRCLET LAKE: A campsite expansion project is currently underway. A portion of the campsite will remain open throughout construction. Work will be conducted between 09:00 18:00 each day.

10 Campers should expect increased activity in the area including construction noise and helicopter activity. ALPINE: Alpine trails beyond Circlet Lake (Albert Edward, Castlecrag, Frink) are all unmarked and require navigational skills and equipment. Hikers should not proceed beyond the Circlet Lake Trail if they are not prepared to spend the night in case of emergency. Weather/visibility can change very quickly in the alpine and cause disorientation. FROST: Be aware of frosty boardwalks in cold weather and in early morning. Note day use area at Croteau Lake has been moved due to creation of new groupsite.
