2 Each Competency will have its own homepage with the same basic layout. 6 2 6 1 The Tempo logo will take you to the Main Homepage. As a STUDENT , you will rarely need to access the Main Homepage. Clicking on the Competency title will bring you back to Competency Homepage from anywhere within the Competency. The Competency Navigation Bar provides access to key content, activities, and resources within the Competency. (More on next page) 3 4 5 Announcements will show you announcements from both the Tempo team and your Facuty SME. Updates show you unread Discussion posts, quizzes left to complete and if you have Assessment feedback. Faculty SME contact information is available for easy reference. 5 The waffle icon will show you the list of your active Competencies. The quote bubble icon will show subscription alerts. The bell will alert you to other types of notifications, such as newly scored Assessments and content updates.

3 7 8 8 7 2 1 3 4 STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 4 Initial Set Up Within the updated learning experience, you have the ability to upload a picture and provide some information about yourself for your SMEs, Coach, and peers to see. Additionally, there are opportunities for you to customize how and when you receive certain notifications. Setting Up Your Profile 1. To set up your profile, click your name from the top right hand of the screen and select Profile. 2. We recommend that you provide at least a picture and your contact information, but feel free to provide as much information as you are comfortable with. 3. When you have finished inputting your information, click Save and Close at the bottom of the page. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 5 Setting Your Notifications 1. To set your notification preferences, click your name from the top right hand corner and select Notifications. 2. You will now have the ability to receive email and/or text message notifications for various types of activity that may occur a new announcement, or a scored assessment, for To receive mobile alerts, you will need to click on Register your mobile.

4 Once you have registered your mobile device, you will have the option to select SMS text messages as an option for notifications. 3. When you have finished making changes, click Save. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 6 Navigation Competency Navigation Bar Elements Navigation Bar Element Definition Learning Resources This area houses all of the Competency content and learning activities. You will find the Table of Contents, the Competency Overview, Assessment Instructions, the Modules and Sub-Competencies and their respective content, as well as the pre-assessment submissions, which are required to submit your final assessment. Discussions This area contains Connect with My Faculty SME, the one-to-one discussion board where you will communicate with your SME, and Competency Discussion, where you will respond to a prompt for required engagement. Assessment This selection provides a drop down from which you can access the Assessment Instructions, as well as a link for Assessment Submission which will be where you will go once you are ready to submit your Assessment.

5 My Progress This area will display your progress in the Competency including if your SME has marked engagement met, if required Pre-assessments have been completed, Final Assessment attempt unlocks, and Competency Assessment scores and feedback. Walden Resources This drop down menu provides direct links to a host of Walden resources including the Library, Writing Center, and Academic Skills Center. You will not need separate logins to access these University resources as logging in with your Walden email address to gain access to Tempo will provide you with a seamless single-sign-on experience. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 7 Navigating Between Pages There are a few ways that you can navigate through the learning resources. While reviewing any piece of content, you can navigate back and forth between items by clicking any of the following: The top of the page will display breadcrumbs that you can click on to get back to different pages, including the main Table of Contents.

6 From the left hand side, there is a small flag that once you click, will bring out a fly-out menu from which you can navigate to different elements in the Table of Contents. Lastly, there are back and forward buttons on the right hand side that will allow you to quickly and easily navigate between pages within the Table of Contents. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 8 Requirements for Completing a Competency To successfully complete a competency, students must complete the following: Engagement Requirement o Within 24 hours of starting a competency, Faculty SME will welcome a STUDENT via the Connect with My Faculty SME discussion board. Faculty will direct students to respond to prompt on the Competency Discussion to meet engagement requirements. o Students must respond to a given prompt on the Competency Dicussion board. o Students can access this board and respond to the prompt anytime after starting the competency.

7 O Once a STUDENT submits their response, they will be able to view responses from other students as well. Pre-Assessments o Pre-Assessments are included in 50% of modules (rounding up in the case of an odd number). o Faculty SME are not required to give feedback on all pre-assessments. However, students can ask questions or request feedback from Faculty via the Connect with My Faculty SME if feedback on a particular pre-assessment is desired. Final Assessment o The Final Assessment will be unlocked once a STUDENT has completed the engagement requirement and submited all required pre-assessments. o Students must achieve a score of Meets Expectations or Exceeds Expectations to complete the Final Assessment and the Competency. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 9 Competency Elements Learning Resources Table of Contents From the Learning Resources page, click on the Table of Contents. We recommend that you take time at the beginning of each Competency to view this page, which contains a lot of vital information about the Competency: These numbers correspond to the number of content items (learning resources and activities) left for you to review.

8 The number at the Table of Contents level is a roll-up count of all the numbers listed below it for the various elements in the Table of Contents. The Overview page provides you with information about the topics the Competency will cover as well as information about the Competency Assessment and any prerequisites. You can also access the Competency Description from this page. This will take you to the Assessment Instructions. Additionally, once you have submitted your Assessment, you will be able to see your submission as well as any feedback from your SME by navigating to the Assessment area. A check mark next to an item indicates that you have viewed it previously, not that it has been completed. The various Modules will provide you access to all of the learning activities and resources available within the Competency. These activities and resources will help support your learning of the Competency content.

9 Pre-assessments are located within the Modules. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 10 Discussions Navigating to Discussions from the top navigation bar will provide you access to the required Competency Discussion as well as Connect with My Faculty SME, your one-to-one discussion with your Faculty SME. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 11 1. To connect with your SME, click on the Connect with My Faculty SME title. a. It is recommended that you use this channel for one-on-one communication with your Faculty SME. 2. To participate in the Competency Discussion to complete your engagement requirement, select the Competency Discussion title. 3. Review the prompt and click Start a New Thread to draft your response. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 12 4. When you have completed your posting, click Post to publish your discussion post. Once you have started a thread, you will have the ability to read and reply to other students threads.

10 STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 13 Pre-Assessments Pre-Assessments are included in 50% of modules (rounding up in the case of an odd number).Clicking on each Module from the Table of Contents will display that Module s learning activities and Self-Assesment (if included). Instructions for the pre-assessment are included in the summary view. pre-assessments can also be accessed by selecting Assessments in the top navigation bar and then selecting Assessment Submission. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 14 1. To start any pre-assessment, click on the pre-assessment Sumbission title. Review the prompot and download the lined Rubric to begin. 2. Once you are ready to submit your pre-assessment, either drag the file to the upload box or use one of the dedicated upload buttons. STUDENT TRAINING GUIDE 15 Reviewing Pre-Assessment Feedback After submitting a pre-assessment, your Faculty SME may provide feedback.
