1 Summer Camp Registration Information KEY POINTS: 1. I will be taking a group of St. John s children and youth to church camp again this Summer ! 2. The week I am going is June 14-20, 2015. All in grades 1-12 are invited! + your kids can go to camp any week and get the same financial support, but if they go the week I go, I will help arrange rides. + A group of St. John s adults are also going to Music Week, July 5-11, and we can probably arrange rides for you this week also. There are BOTH special, music focused programs for all ages this week AND regular camp programs for kids currently in Grades 1-2 and 6-12. 3. The Lutheran Men in Mission will automatically pay 1/3 of the camp fee for all member children, and additional scholarship funds are available. We do not want anyone not to go because of money. 4. To get the lowest price, we need to know if your children are going by THIS Sunday, March 15.

2 I will submit Registration for them and the LMM will pay the camp deposit. We don t need anything from you except your commitment to go. All the DETAILS: 1. It is time to get registered for Summer camp at Lutheridge, located in the NC Mountains near Asheville! The first Registration DEADLINE to get the lowest price is March 15 (the price increases several times as time goes by). 2. Camp at Lutheridge lasts one week. Campers are put into cabins in groups of about 8 campers and a college-aged counselor for a week of fun, faith-learning, games, & songs! There is little you can do that will make a bigger impact on your young person s faith life than send them to camp at Lutheridge. 3. This year our week of camp is June 14-20. Of course you can go to camp any week you like, but this is the week we will be taking a group.

3 If you go that week, I will arrange rides to and from camp. Last year we had more than 15 campers in our group! As mentioned above, I can also probably arrange rides for the week of July 5-11. 4. There are different programs available for different ages! You can read more about them by going to and scrolling down. (You currently cannot click the hotlinks on the right side of that page, as they are mislinked to Lutherock I have notified Lutheridge.) I have listed the programs that are available June 14-20 and July 5-11 below. 5. Camp programs cost between $430 and $589, depending on the camper s age and the program, IF we register by March 15. (Again, the fee increases several times the later in the year your register.) We understand, this is not inexpensive; but when you consider six nights lodging, 17 meals, a full week of 24 hour per day supervised fun, it is not a bad deal.

4 Compared to many other camps, it is quite reasonable. 6. We do not want any child to skip camp because of the cost. Therefore, St. John s Lutheran Men in Mission are committed to giving each St. John s camper a scholarship of 1/3 of your child s fee. There are additional funds available for those who have financial situations that will not allow paying 2/3 the cost of camp. PLEASE contact Gloria or Pastor Shannon as soon as possible to discuss additional scholarship funds. 7. What do you need to do? All you have to do is CONTACT ME by Sunday, March 15! After I hear from you, I will add you to my Registration spreadsheet AND pay your child s $150 deposit, using the LMM scholarship money! You get all the regular camp activities: pool, crafts, games, fellowship - plus more water time and two crazy campfires instead of one! $499 Click and scroll down to this program. Paddlers Week just completed grades 6-8 "Just Add Water" to an already rich and fun camp experience! Go on a water outing in Pisgah National Forest, canoeing on the French Broad River, and rafting on the Nolichucky River. There is not time for lots of on sitecamp activities, but with bible study and Christian community, this week provides a fun way to remember your baptism. 7 WaveRiders just completed grades 9-12 Enjoy paddling the moderate whitewater on the Lower Nolichucky River in duckies , camp out under the night sky along the river, and the raft the Upper Nolichucky. Music Week Explorers just completed grades 6-8 All the best of camp; swim, play games, make crafts, hike, sing around the campfire, share stories, and grow in faith with creative bible study! Stretch into new adventures with the low ropes course and an off-site outing into Pisgah Forest. Caring college-age counselors show just how fun and powerful living for Jesus can be. Surf & Turf (Middle School) just completed grades 6-8 Raft the Nolichucky River ( Surf ) and backpack the Appalachian Trail ( Turf ). The moderate terrain hike provides a good introduction to the skills of backpacking. Middle school campers experience a day on the Challenge Tower, a day of hiking, and a night of camping off-site alongside the river. On-site camp time will include some regular camp activities. Fly high riding the zip line on the Lutheridge Tower and the zip line tour of Boulderline in Lake Lure, NC.

10 That s not all! Add climbing on the towers of Lutheridge and Boulderline along with a day of hiking in Chimney Rock State Park. Combine with a day of rafting on the Nolichucky River and you have a super-charged setting to enjoy God s creation. Music Week Mountaineers just completed grades 9-12 Music Week Mountaineers rehearse and perform with a renowned choral instructor. Besides the regular fun ofcamp activities, the week includes a late night adventure and a sleep-in morning. Handbells, drumming, and orchestra/band are options as well.
