SuperWorm!

1 superworm ! Starfish Spring 2 English (Literacy) We will read a range of books about minibeasts including the poetry book Mad about Minibeasts and Incy Wincy Spider poetry. We will also look at information books and the adventure story of superworm by Julia Donaldson. Most children will be writing simple sentences by carefully sounding out words containing Phase 3 phonics (sh, ng, th, ai, ee, igh, oa). Maths (Mathematics) We will cover aspects of position and direction, addition and subtraction, length and weight. The children will become more confident to recognise the place value of numbers to 20.

2 Art (Expressive art and design) The children will explore different textures and materials when creating minibeasts using papier mache and junk modelling. We will also practice our threading skills when making webs for Incy Wincy! We will also work on creating levers for Incy Wincy Spider to move in the drain pipe! Computing (Knowledge and Understanding of the World) We will begin to use data including making simple pictograms using PurpleMash. PE We will move like Minibeasts! RE We will learn about the Easter story PSHE What makes a friend? Science (Knowledge and Understanding of the World) We will learn about Minibeasts!

3 Finding out where they like to live (exploring Forest School) and what they like to eat. Y1 As above + learn to catergorise animals (including amphibians, fish, insects)
