The S Class series will be composed of eight new vessels, built and launched at Zheijiang Ouhua Shipyard in China. All eight of the new vessels will be directly deployed into Swire Shipping s multipurpose liner trades, which offer an unparalleled service linking North, East and South East Asia to key markets in Australia, New Zealand and the island nations of the South investment underlines CNCo s commitment to providing sustainable Shipping solutions.

2 The innovative S Class ships will provide Swire Shipping s valued customers with additional capacity, heavy lift capabilities (up to 120 tons) and increased cargo flexibility. The vessels have been specially designed for their unique high speed cargo handling ability and the versatility to carry a wide range of cargo types including steel and forest products, heavy-lift plant machinery and equipment and project parcels as well as agricultural commodities and minor bulk parcels. The underpinning highlight of the fleet, are its best in class environmental initiatives. The vessels will operate under the highest environmental standards in the industry, correspondingly ensuring the lowest fuel consumption per tonne-mile and resulting in the lowest possible carbon footprint from operations. The highlights of these industry-leading initiatives include: The vessels exceed all anticipated future environmental regulations being equipped with a ballast water treatment system, advanced incinerator and oily water separator plants and have large black and grey water storage tanks so discharge in port and sensitive areas can be avoided.

3 Computer optimized hull lines, main engine and propeller specially designed to achieve the lowest fuel consumption with maximum efficiency at 60% MCR. Mewis duct is installed in front of the propeller to further enhance the propeller efficiency and a special flap rudder has been chosen to minimise rudder movement on passage and enhance maneuvering in port in conjunction with its bow thruster, reducing her dependence on tugs. The four cargo cranes are variable speed MacGregor Electric type which use approximately 40-50% less power than similar electro hydraulic cranes and are about 30% faster in cycle time. Considerable effort has been made to reduce power consumption in all areas of the ship. The heat from the exhaust gases of the main engine and two of its three generators is used to make steam for heating the fuel, the speed of the main sea water pumps and engine room fans are automatically adjusted to suit the main engine power and regenerative heat is used reduce heating for the fuel purifiers.

4 Electric winches and windlasses, low powered energy efficient lighting throughout the vessel and advanced navigational systems and vessel energy management systems to enhance navigational safety and minimise fuel consumption.
