The baud rate is programmable, enabling rates from 1200 to19200 Multiple terminal configurationRS-485 communication enables you to connect up to 32 terminals to a singleCOM port and/or to extend the cabling distance to up to 1,000 meters (3,280feet) using 9600 baud via an RS-485 multi-drop line. RS-485 communicationuses two wires as opposed to RS-422 communication, which uses four Port to port configurationA single SY-780/A terminal, equipped with RS-232 communications, can beconnected directly to an asynchronous RS-232 port.

9 If RS-232 communica-tion is used, only one terminal may be connected to each COM port andcabling distances should not exceed 50 meters (160ft). Network connectionsIt can be connected to an Ethernet communications network or Token this type of communication, an IP address is required for every SY-780/Aterminal, making it possible to communicate with each terminal in Selection of the data entry functionThe SY-780/A terminal is ready for operation when a data entry function hasbeen selected (after it was programmed). The prompt of the selected functionwill be displayed on the second line.
