FAMILY; Myrtaceae ORIGIN; Qld HEIGHT; 8-15mt WIDTH; 3-5mt HABIT; Erect columnar tree with dense foliage, FOLIAGE; Evergreen. Small mid-green leaves, new growth has a coppery tinge. FLOWERS; Small white flowers. FLOWERING SEASON; November to January FRUIT; Fleshy globular berry, long and wide, ripening to a cardinal-red. Edible CULTURE Hedge, roadsides, windbreak, tubs, specimen tree, parks. Minimum natural rainfall 750mm. PRUNING; Formative pruning when young to develop a strong central leader and bushy canopy may be beneficial. May be pruned as a hedge or topiary. COMMENTS; Frost tender when young but otherwise fairly hardy. Prefers a well drained soil and may require additional irrigation during establishment or through extended dry periods.
