Which Files We Might Request Support help from Chesapeake Technology, Inc.

Often requires that we see your private files. We treat these files with discretion, and do not share the information with anyone outside your company or support request. Typical files that we need are the PROJECT file and one or more raw SONAR data files. It may save space to ZIP these with WinRAR or WinZip to send them. On your default C: drive, the PROJECT file may be found under the named project. For example, if your project was named SonarSurvey1, the PROJECT file would be: C:\SonarWiz-Projects\SonarSurvey1\ The valuable MML file contains project parameters and context information that really helps analysis of any issue.

Chesapeake Technology, Inc. copyright 2013-2014 Rev 11/1/2013 650-967-2045 Page 3 Secondly, we typically need one or more of your raw XTF or SGY or any type of sonar data files which you collected. We use the raw file and import it and try to re-create your error scenario locally, so we can look into it more deeply. Sending Files If we ask for files: Here are 4 ways to send us files via FTP (File Transfer Protocol): 1) Send small files, such as the project MML file, as an e-mail attachment; 2) For larger files, please use our HighTail DROPBOX, with these instructions. Send us files up to 2GB in size, by making a connection to our HighTail FTP drop-box here: Please use your PhoneLog code ( PL4344) in the SUBJECT LINE.

3) Or E-mail us your own FTP site credentials, and we will download your file; 4) Or use HighTail, RackIt, WeTransfer, or a similar file transfer site, send us the link to your files(s), and we will download your data. Chesapeake Technology, Inc. copyright 2013-2014 Rev 11/1/2013 650-967-2045 Page 4 Detailed Example: Using the CTI DropBox Here is an example of the GUI for the DropBox URL at: First click on this link: You will see a GUI appear like this: Then: (1) Fill in all the fields, like shown in this example, using your own PLxxxx code (2) Select your files to send, and (3) Click on the SEND button to send them.

If you are unable to use the HighTail DropBox due to site security policy, please use another large-file transfer technique, such as those in the next 2 sections. Chesapeake Technology, Inc. copyright 2013-2014 Rev 11/1/2013 650-967-2045 Page 5 Private Server FTP Option We have received file approx 2GB in size using private or public FTP drop-sites, and you might want to try this too, as a third option. Private FTP is a situation in which your facility provides an FTP server, and you send us: 1. IP address or URL, with file or folder name 2. Username 3. Password Using these 3 pieces of information, we can browse to and log in to your FTP server and download the files, much like customers log in to and download software.

If you are having difficulties accessing our sites, please consider having us access yours instead! Again we prefer to get a single file, such as a zipped folder containing the raw sonar data, project MML file, and possibly basemaps you have been using, so that we can re-create your import/display scenario perfectly. The MML file would also contain information about your export and import coordinate system choices, so it is a very important part of the delivery. Public Server FTP Option We have received file approx 2GB in size using public FTP drop-sites as well! Sites like , , are set up for free, or for a small fee, to accept your file, and make it accessible to a recipient like the CTI team.

If the other FTP delivery options have not seemed effective for you, please consider this technique as an option. Preferred Site: 2 SonarWiz5 Utilities - Miscellaneous FAQs SonarWiz5 utilities - Importing digitized reflectors Question: Can I directly import digitized reflectors from one project to another directly as opposed to making shape files, like you can import other CSV files?

Chesapeake Technology, Inc. copyright 2013-2014 Rev 11/1/2013 650-967-2045 Page 6 Answer: Digitized reflectors are stored in a file in your project folder with the .DIG file extension. We have a utility that helps do things like append features from one project to another. Chesapeake Technology, Inc. copyright 2013-2014 Rev 11/1/2013 650-967-2045 Page 7 In the folder: "C:\Program Files\Chesapeake Technology, Inc\SonarWiz5" you will see a utility called " ": 1. Run DigTools and then select the .DIG file that has the same name as your project. 2. Press the Read/Validate button. 3. Press the Append DIG button and select the "other" dig file you want to import.
