COUNCIL ELECTION To receive the names of the members elected to APPOINTMENT OF AUDITORS To propose the re-appointment of KPMG as the Institute s auditors for the 2018-19 financial ANY OTHER BUSINESS Any other business which may be transacted at an Annual General Meeting of the Institute. Martin Makaya President 4 July 20184 MESSAGE FROM THE PresidentDear Colleagues, My priority for the year was sustainable stakeholder engagement, to get the Institute to be recognised locally and globally.

6 I would like to brief members on some of the significant activities and professional developments that took place in the 2017/18 Presidential year. Centennial celebrationsWe are halfway through the centennial year and your Institute has held seven milestone events. These events were branded to reflect that we turned 100 years and were attended by senior citizens such as the Mayor of Harare, the Commissioner General of Taxes, the Ambassador of Germany to zimbabwe , the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and senior members of ICAZ.

7 The Centenary celebrations are accompanied by media supplements and these are distributed to ICAZ members and the general public, supported by the Chartered Accountant magazine published three times annually and the technical bulletin published on a quarterly basis. 5 The Centenary Congress (Winter School) will be held in Victoria Falls from 26 to 29 July 2018. The theme is: Celebrating Our First 100 Years, A Stepping Stone to The Next 100 Years . I believe this will be the largest Winter School ICAZ has ever held as we celebrate our first 100 years.

8 It is pleasing to note that members from different generations and different parts of the world have signed up for the Centenary Congress already. His Excellency, the President of zimbabwe ED Mnangagwa will grace this notable occasion as we celebrate our and Strategic Plan 2018-2020A Strategic Planning workshop involving Council members and the Secretariat was convened in November 2017 culminating in a new three-year strategy document. The six Strategic Objectives are (1) people: engage people, strengthen capacity and build high performance culture; (2) governance: revitalise the governance and leadership of the Institute and enhance execution; (3) funding: enhance the value proposition, grow and diversify income; (4) process: enhance delivery, process efficiency and digital capabilities.

9 (5) positioning: maintain leadership, while enhancing brand positioning and thought leadership and (6) partnerships: enhance and leverage partnerships across the value chain. Membership Services and Initiatives to Expand the Membership BaseOn membership services, the Institute is taking steps to engage a Technical Director who will focus on doing research work for the Institute among other roles for the benefit of members. On governance, Council has further opened up seats for non-resident members to be represented on Council.

10 In addition, ICAZ launched the Mobile App, MyICAZ which will improve efficiency and enhance service delivery to members, students, and other constituents. The main functionalities of the app include event management, profile management, CPD management, connect management and push notification further improve services to members, a Membership Affairs Committee was created. This was borne out of the need to have a specific Committee that looks into all member issues and deal with them timeously. Over the past 5 years, we have had an average of 110 members being admitted as Chartered Accountants ( zimbabwe ) on an annual basis.
