1 Technical data SheetAeroShell Grease 33 AeroShell Grease 33 is a synthetic universal airframe Grease composed of a lithium complex thickened syntheticbase oil with corrosion and oxidation inhibitors and load carrying useful operating temperature range is 730C to + ApplicationsFor many years aircraft operators have been seeking torationalise the greases used on aircraft and to reduce thenumber of different greases in their inventories. RecentlyBoeing began research on a new, general purpose,corrosion-inhibiting Grease . The aim was for a non-claybased Grease that would provide longer life for componentsand mechanisms and possess improved wear andcorrosion resistance.

2 This led to the introduction of the newBoeing Specification BMS 3-33B. Owing to the wide range of operating temperatures, loadsand other environmental conditions required for variousaircraft components, several different types of Grease withdifferent desirable properties are used during routinelubrication of aircraft components. Boeing, in developingtheir BMS 3-33B specification, took account of theproperties of the different Grease types used on aircraft andwrote a specification for a Grease which would provideimproved performance and which could be used in thewidest possible range of Grease applications.

3 AeroShell Grease 33 is approved to BMS 3-33B and offersthe improved performance properties required by thisspecification. AeroShell Grease 33 can be used for routine lubrication onBoeing aircraft where MIL-PRF-23827C or BMS 3-24 isspecified. AeroShell Grease 33 can also be used in someapplications on Boeing aircraft which require use of MIL-G-21164. Other applications on Boeing aircraft which requireuse of MIL-G-21164 and other greases are being reviewedand in due course Boeing will issue details of the full rangeof applications. For the current status, refer to the latestissue of Boeing Service Letter "BMS 3-33B GeneralPurpose Aircraft Grease ".

4 AeroShell Grease 33 can be used for routine lubrication inapplications where MIL-PRF-23827C is specified on aircraftmanufactured by McDonnell Douglas, Airbus, BAe RegionalAircraft, Canadair, Lockheed, Embraer, Fokker andGulfstream (except for wheel bearings, applications above1210C and sliding applications requiring molybdenumdisulphide). Other aircraft manufacturers are evaluating AeroShellGrease 33 with the aim of approving it for use on theiraircraft. Operators should regularly check with thesemanufacturers for the latest status. Use of AeroShell Grease 33 can provide operators with thefollowing benefits: Reduced inventories;Reduced maintenance labour costs;Less chance of product , Approvals & : Approved MIL-PRF-23827C (Type I ) Boeing : Approved BMS 3-33B Airbus: Approved AIMS 09-06-002 COMAC Approved to QPL-CMS-OL-302 For a full listing of equipment approvals andrecommendations, please consult your local Shell & MiscibilityAeroShell Grease 33 contains a synthetic oil and must notbe used with incompatible seal materials.
