So also the graduate of a school of the health professions completes his formal curriculum and is behind the times. Advancement of knowledge has never been as rapid as in these times, and as the author be-gins his revisions and up-dating as soon as he completes the last page of manuscript, so also must you be ready to take every opportunity to keep abreast of every advance.

As you take your leave of the formal under-graduate curricula, we bid you welcome to the "post-graduate" or continuing education courses, symposia, conlt!rences, and demon-strations. In 1909 the Medical Depa1rtment of the University of Nashville, which had founded in 1851, joined with the University of Tennussee and they were operated jointly for two years.

4 In 1911 the Uni-versity of Nashville merged completely with the Uni. versity of Tennessee. In 19ll the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee moved all departments of the health servi~ to Memphis. An agreement was effe<:led with the Col-lege of Physicians and Surgeons, founded in 1906, undtt which the College of Physicians and Surgeons would merge with the University of Tennessee and the build ing al 879 Madison would be used by the University A laboratory building was erected in 1 112. These two buildings known as Lindsley and Eve Halls were named for former deans of the College of Nashville. In 1913, by agreement, the University secured the faculty, buildings, and equipment of Memphis Hospital Medi ical College, founded in 1878, located al 718 Union. In 1914 the Medical Department of coln Memorial University, founded in Knoxville in ll889, was diJ. continued and merged with the Unive1rsity.
