PRAY: at least three times a day GIVE: regularly to support the ministry of our Church LIVE: for God, our Church , and for others THE PARISH RULE OF LIFE WELCOME 2 FROM REV. KENUTE S DESK My Brothers and Sisters in Christ Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The First Sunday of Advent is New Year s Day in the life of the Church . It s a day of New Beginning. The cycle is a constant reminder to us that every end is a beginning. This is hope. Advent is a season of expectation, anticipation and preparation.

4 It s the time when Christians prepare once more for the celebration of the nativity of Jesus. The word 'Advent' means arrival or 'coming.' But our season of Advent isn t just about waiting for Christmas. Advent can help to heighten our awareness that God is always prepared to come into human lives if only we are prepared to receive him. Advent also reminds us of the promise of a final coming: the parousia, a time when all that was promised in the first coming will be brought to fruition. God began the work of salvation in the past; that work constantly begins again in the continuing present, and the parousia, the fulfillment of God s promise, is expected at the end of human time. We are an Advent people. Christians should always see something brighter than the bleak aspects of life. We are called to be people of hope.

5 So we wait vigilantly with Hope. Think on These Things 11 All praise to the Father, from whom all things come, And all praise to Christ Jesus, His only Son, And all praise to the Spirit, who makes us one. And they ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love, Yes they ll know we are Christians by our love. Priest: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
