The feast celebrates Jesus Christ as King of the Universe. But this is not about an earthly king, but a servant king. Jesus came to care for us all, and showed us how to do the same. His crown was one of thorns, his cloak was purple and his throne is the cross. He lived, died and rose for us all, and showed us the way to God. We don't see ourselves as servants, yet every time we care for someone, at home, or work or on vacation we show them what a servant does.

3 Our response to their needs is a reminder of the Lord's call to care for everyone we meet. We put a positive spin on what servant means because when we care for others, we show them that we are responding to the call of the Lord. It is a way to show our care and respect for others. But it also lessens some of the rancor prevalent in our society. In order to build the kingdom of God on earth, we have to be willing to offer others friendship, care, concern, mercy, compassion, equality and forgiveness. These are the qualities that Jesus showed us while he was on earth. In order to be his follower, we must be able to do the same. Today is also the last Sunday in the CHURCH year.

4 Next week we begin the Season of Advent. Every year when we come to this Sunday, we wonder where the year went. It seems to have lown by. But today is a good opportunity to look back on this year to see whether our relationship with God has improved or not. Hopefully, we are able to see that what little we may have accomplished has made a difference in our relationship with God and with each other. Every day becomes an opportunity to discover something new about ourselves and what is expected of us as disciples of the Lord. As we have grown in our faith, hopefully we have also grown in our willingness to continue to work for the building of God's kingdom on earth. Maybe we've become kinder and more gentle in our attitudes, words and behavior.

5 Maybe we are more attentive to the presence of Christ within and among us, so much so that we may have experienced him in ways we never expected. As we stand at the end of this CHURCH year and look forward to the next one, we can do so with our faith in God and ourselves renewed. We can also be grateful that we have another opportunity to celebrate the wonder of Jesus Christ in our lives once again. He is the king, but more importantly he is the one who died and rose so that we could live as his people. HAPPY CHRIST THE KING!!! ~ FR. JOE STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURES Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday collection totals will be posted in the Dec. 2nd bulletin To sign up for Online Giving go to: W A A O C C D 2ND COLLECTION December 1/2 R R F Today we take a special collection for the Retired Religious Communities.

10 Caroline Ponterio, Principal M -S D S Using chemistry, math, geology, and current events, our middle-schoolers discovered the substance that makes our cars go, lip gloss shiny and our plastics possible from inding reserves to extracting and re ining it. Students recently engaged in a 90-minute lesson about petroleum and oil exploration on the Rutgers Science Explorer Bus. This on-site experience was made possible by our Home & School Association. Please enjoy some of our students re lections about this As my partner and I completed dividing the items into groups of objects that do and do not contain petro-leum, we learned oil is used to create wax, plastic, dyes, and products used to treat the skin.
