THE ASHFORD PROMISE

1 What is the ASHFORD PROMISE ? The ASHFORD PROMISE can be thought of as an opportunity to attend ASHFORD university risk-free and determine whether or not it is a good fit for your lifestyle and education goals. For students who are conditionally admitted, there are three components to the ASHFORD PROMISE . If you decide that ASHFORD university is not the right fit for you, or if ASHFORD university establishes that you do not meet our Basic Academic Requirements (BAR), you leave with 1.) no financial obligation to ASHFORD university , 2.) no student loan debt as a result of your enrollment at ASHFORD university and 3.) no academic record at ASHFORD university . THE ASHFORD PROMISE During the ASHFORD PROMISE , if you decide that ASHFORD university is not the right fit for you, or if ASHFORD university establishes that you do not meet our Basic Academic Requirements (BAR), you will have no financial obligation to ASHFORD university , no academic record, and no student loan debt as a result of your enrollment at ASHFORD university .

2 What is Conditional Admission? Conditional Admission is an admission status that precedes provisional and full admission status. It means that there are conditions or requirements that must be met by the student before they can be considered fully admitted. At ASHFORD university , a student is conditionally admitted if they meet our Conditional Admission Requirements [(AA), (BA), or (Grad)]. The next level of admission status after Conditional Admission is Provisional Admission. To be provisionally admitted, a student must satisfy all of the published Provisional Admission Requirements [(AA), (BA), or (Grad)], including Basic Academic Requirements (BAR) for undergraduate students and Student Success Orientation, if applicable. Why was I denied admission to ASHFORD university ?

3 ASHFORD university s selection process includes assessing whether students have demonstrated that they can meet our Basic Academic Requirements (BAR). ASHFORD university monitors academic performance in your first course. If you have not earned a cumulative grade of C- or higher ( ), as of Sunday of week 3, you will be denied admission to the university and withdrawn from your course. Assignments graded by Sunday of week 3 include coursework assigned during weeks 1 and 2 and any submitted quizzes before Sunday of week 3. Instructors are not expected to grade coursework assigned or due in week 3 prior to the grading deadline which is Thursday of week 4. Can I try again? If your first attempt at admission has been denied, as part of the ASHFORD PROMISE , you have another opportunity to be provisionally admitted to the university .

4 You are not required to submit an appeal. If you have not already completed the ASHFORD university Student Success Orientation, you will be required to do so, prior to retaking your introductory course. Students who fail to attain provisional admission by the end of their second attempt of the ASHFORD PROMISE must wait one year from the date they were denied admission to re-apply, or they may appeal the university s decision. Students must appeal in writing to the university Registrar at The appeal letter must include a reasonable explanation for the student s academic performance to date, which includes mitigating circumstances such as student injury/illness, death of a student s family member, or other reasons resulting in the undue hardship to the student.

5 In addition, compelling evidence that the student has the ability to academically succeed must be provided. Appeals for procedural errors or mitigating circumstances may be considered by a committee and, if warranted, a third period of conditional admission may be granted to a student with a successful appeal. Disagreements over academic quality will not be considered as an appropriate basis for such appeals. What if I am reapplying to ASHFORD university ? If you were previously admitted to ASHFORD university but did not attend, you are eligible for the ASHFORD PROMISE . If you previously attended ASHFORD university at the same degree level (undergraduate/graduate) you are not eligible for the ASHFORD PROMISE .
