The BLANDFORD SCHOOL Sixth Form is the perfect choice for students. It is big enough to offer a wide range of courses and opportunities, yet small enough to ensure that all students are known and supported as individuals. The A Level pass rate over the past three years averages and over 52% of all exams taken were passed with A*-B grade. Every student who wanted to go to university was successful in gaining a place at either their first choice or insurance offer, with students going to a variety of universities to study courses ranging from Specialist Make-up Design to Veterinary medicine.

Other past students chose to follow alternative progression pathways and these included a Nursing Degree Apprenticeship with the NHS and a Higher Apprenticeship with Lloyds Bank. Nationally accredited reports show that teaching quality in the Sixth Form is also in the top 25% in the country. The progress students make is in the top 20% of schools nationally (state and independent). On top of all of this the SCHOOL offers a wide range of enrichment opportunities from supporting volunteering opportunities and work experience, to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Young Enterprise, Drama productions, Sports Leaders Qualifications and Sports Teams.

We look forward to welcoming you to The BLANDFORD SCHOOL Sixth Form; if you are an external applicant please do not hesitate to get in touch to arrange a visit. General Entry Requirements The BLANDFORD SCHOOL offers courses at both Level 2 and Level 3. To access level 3 courses you will need to have achieved a Grade 4 or higher in gcse English, any students failing to meet this requirement will be required to follow a level 2 programme. If you achieve fewer than 5 x grade 4s you will also be required to follow a level 2 programme. If you achieve 5 x grade 4s you will need to discuss the appropriate progression pathway with the Head of Sixth Form.

If you achieve more than 5 x grade 4s in your gcse subjects (this may include a merit in a vocational subject) you will be able to choose from the level 3 programmes on offer. The entry requirement for our Level 2 programme is 5 GCSEs passed at grade 2 or above. All A level subjects are linear; this means that you will take your exams at the end of the two year course. CTEC courses have exam entry points in January and June of year 12 and year 13 so it is likely that students will be examined throughout the two years rather than just at the end of the two year course. You will be expected to choose three subjects to study; these may be supplemented with Core Maths or the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), both of which carry additional UCAS points.

In exceptional circumstances you may be able to study four subjects, but this depends on the subjects you select and only 4. following an assessment of your suitability and a discussion with the Head of Sixth Form. When choosing subjects you should consider: which subjects you are likely to be most successful at; the methods of assessment and if your desired progression route requires particular subjects, the website , Unifrog and UCAS are useful sources of further information. gcse re-takes Students who do not achieve a grade 4 in English Language and / or Maths at the end of Year 11 will have to re-take these subjects as part of their programme of study in order to support their future progression.

Maths re-sit students will also be working towards Functional Skills Qualifications (Level 1 and Level 2) in their lessons. All students who join our Sixth Form are Subjects making a positive choice in terms of their future Available career. Our focus is very much upon raising Level 2 Business or Health & Social Care students' aspirations to ensure that they each to be studied alongside achieve their full potential. Whether you aspire to Travel and Tourism a vocational training programme, or to an Art and Design / Art Textiles Biology Oxbridge university place, we will support you Business Studies along your chosen path and assist you with your Vocational Business (CTEC).
