This morning, and all Sunday mornings, the many small groups that make up this body gather as a large group to worship God, celebrate His goodness in our lives, remember Christ together through communion, and be challenged and encouraged by scripture and by each other. To our guests this morning, we thank you for being with us and invite you to join us in this time of worship and in our lives as we strive to live as disciples of Jesus.

On the Let us Know card in the pew rack, check the box for: I d like a Small Group and/or Sign me Up for the Next Starting Point Class Drop the Let Us Know card at the usher s desk, drop it in the offering tray or place it in the giving boxes. You will be contacted this week with information on how to get started. 4 Financial Report for July 29, 2018 AM Worship Assembly 586 Contribution $17,284 (Weekly Goal $28,774) In Luke 11, Jesus indicated that the Holy Spirit is a _____ _____ from a loving Father. And in John 16, Jesus said it is for our _____ that He is leaving and the Holy Spirit is coming. Jesus spoke highly of the Holy Spirit He knew the Spirit would be a good thing for God s people. A few weeks after the Passover in Exodus, God _____ at Mt. Sinai what His people needed in order to live the way He wanted them to live.

5 Similarly, a few weeks after Christ s death and resurrection, God _____ what His people needed to become the image-bearers they were always intended to be. The gift He provided was the Holy Spirit. The manner in which the Holy Spirit was poured out to all Christ followers seems to be a _____ of the story of Babel in Genesis 11. The Holy Spirit is continuing God s _____ work in Christ. Yes, we are saved. But we re also still being restored. We need the _____ _____. But we struggle with the Spirit because it s hard to understand it, to relate to it, and to depend on it.

Intern Party: Join us TODAY, August 5 for lunch after church and a going-away party for Romen! Cost for lunch in $5/person. There will be a money tree available for Romen. Southwest Student Ministry Duct Tape Car Wash raised $2, The Youth Group bought school supplies for 54 students. Thank you to everyone who showed up and donated money. Family Service Center Back to School Clothing Night was a success.

10 We served 16 students with back to school clothing. Thank you all for your help and generosity in helping get these students ready for school. Vegetables in the Foyer: Please help yourself to the vegetables in the foyer by the south entrance and take as much as you would like. These vegetables were grown in our Community Garden. You are welcome anytime to pick vegetables out of the Community Garden located on the south side of the church. Combined Worship at Central Church of Christ (1401 S. Monroe) Sunday, August 5 at 6pm. Homemade Baked Desserts Needed: Southwest Church of Christ will be hosting our neighbors, the Bonham Middle School staff, for a back-to-school luncheon Thursday, August 9.
