Kay Pierce DAY OF prayer AND FASTING FRIDAY 23RD FEBRUARY 2018 As announced by the Holy Father, Friday 23rd February 2018 is to be a Day of prayer and Fasting for war-torn nations, in particular for the Democratic Republic of Congo and for South Sudan that are suffering protracted conflict. CAFOD FAMILY FAST DAY FRIDAY 23 FEBRUARY Poverty is not part of God s plan. As a Catholic community, we should not give up on the poorest people. Give it up instead and take on the challenge to build a better world this Lent.

4 It s simple; choose something, give it up and donate the money you save. Alternatively, think of something more challenging and get sponsored to give it up. Then watch your fasting transform into something amazing that helps poor communities. For example: Turn treats into toilets Give up cupcakes or cinema trips to help communities build toilets. Turn apps into taps Give up your phone for a day so others can have clean water. Turn fast food into fresh food Give up burgers so communities can grow nutritious vegetable gardens. Whether it s by giving up apps, treats or something else, taking the give it up challenge means you can help more communities to build a better world for their families. Envelopes are at the back of church.
