Dear Parents, BCS Intermediate is off to a very good start. We feel very blessed to be able to partner with you again to prepare hearts and minds to serve Christ. I encouraged our students and staff this morning to live out Philippians 2:3-4. "Do nothing out of selfish ambi-tion or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interest of the others." That concept is VERY counter-cultural, but our call to do so is clear from the Lord. Pray that the Lord will make us more selfless, by the power of the Holy Spirit working through us, making decisions that serve our students, our fami-lies, and our community versus just serving ourselves. What a privilege we have being part of a Christ-centered community where God's Word is used every day to teach, train, rebuke, and correct! ~Mr. Pickett, Intermediate Principal Arrival/Dismissal Reminder Dismissal: Predictably, the first day of dismissal was rough.

We saw cars sprawled out into Lahmeyer and State Blvd. The second day was much better, but not ideal. Our car line did not clear our lot until 3:14 on Wednesday, but we were all clear by 3:04 on Thursday. I'm guessing each day will continue to get better until we are in a natural flow sometime next week. Remind your kids to be listening for their names, and looking for their vehicles at dismissal. It will also help them to know which side you will pick them up. Stay patient! Arrival: The heaviest traffic in our parking lot is on the Lahmeyer side between 7:48-7:58. We had a stalled vehicle in the southbound lane that backed things up this morning until 7:49. Otherwise, the traffic would not have been as bad. Please pull up as far as possible next to the Safety Zone to drop students off. It helps everyone else behind you! Ever want to see what goes on in Do you ever have those days when your kids jump in the car and you can t wait to ask them, how was your day?

And they quickly respond with good and no other de-tail? Yep, been there! There is a helper for this -- Mr. Roop to the rescue! He posts activities the kids are doing on the Class Dojo app, and as a parent, I love it. Getting insight into their day helps me to navigate the conversa-tion on the ride home. Instead of how was your day? , I can ask something specific they did in to get the ball rolling. Now, I hear about and the rest of the day at school! Thanks Mr. Roop for the insight and conversation starters. Amber Archer, Parent As a parent, I get so much joy from the videos Mr. Roop sends through Class Dojo! Seeing my son laugh and work with his friends is priceless and I love the opportunity it gives me when asking about his day after school! If you want a glimpse of what your child experiences in their day, I would highly recommend using Class Dojo! Kelley Lothamer, Parent Class Dojo allows me to see actual footage from class.

I love watching how the kids interact, and getting some insight into my daughter's school day. Bethany Pepple, Parent If you want to see what we are learning and experienc-ing in Physical Education, please look for the Class Dojo invite that is on its way to your email box! If you don t get one soon, please email Mr. Roop! What is Chalkmarks ? Chalkmarks is our all-school weekly newsletter which reports on school-wide information so parents and students alike can en-joy learning about what s going on in all the classrooms and get needed information from administrators and staff. This first issue of the 2019-2020 school year is being distributed as a hard-copy , but each issue after this will be sent by Con-stant Contact. A few extra copies are available in the Intermedi-ate office each week if you prefer a hard copy. Past issues of Chalkmarks can always be accessed on our website.

Go to Chalkmarks link Vehicle Name Cards - Thank you for using your blue and gold name cards in the windshield of your vehicles when picking up your students from school.
